Island ETC: East-End Theater Company — Attraction in Galveston

It would be to my benefit to start researching the seating arrangements for certain venues before making ticket purchases. Once again, ended up overpaying for extremely uncomfortable seating. There is absolutely little to no arm room or leg space in between the seats, at this particular venue. The seats are constructed so close together front & back and side by side, that it is impossible not to make bodily contact with the attendee sitting next to me. Also, due to the lack of space front and back, it is unavoidable having to feel the person behind me repeatedly kick and nudge the back of my seat and breathe down my neck. As far as the performance itself, I've seen better plays. The jokes weren't all that funny, and the basic gist of the story was pretty apparent. White male 2nd amendment supporting conservatives are are a bunch of racists, and Muslims are endless victims of relentless Islamaphobia. The dark humor & outrageousness did get slightly more interesting during the second half, though. This wasn't a very enjoyable experience, due to the seating discomfort. Probably won't return...

I love going to shows at Island ETC. This is a small local theater that uses primarily local cast members. Shows can range from major Broadway shows to local or lesser known productions. Island ETC is a non-profit organization and gives back to the community, including offering educational programs to students. It's also one of the few places you can laugh, cry, or just thoroughly enjoy a live show for less than the price of a good steak in this town. I gave them 5 stars last year, they have fallen. The box office is a joke, left 3 messages, never a returned call. Went by in person, during box office times, locked up.
