Dickens On The Strand — Local services in Galveston

This years Dickens was the worst to date. There were almost no vendors! On Streets that had 20 vendors in the past there were 3! We do not want vendors who only bring there "homemade" stuff. Most of this is ugly and bad quality. Please bring back vendors from previous years! We have been going to this even for 15+ years and the last 4 have just gotten worse. This event use to be about shopping for Xmas presents and enjoying looking at people in custom. Now we paid $20! to walk the same shops we shop all year.. Please fill those streets with vendors like other events that come to the strand or we will just stop coming. Watching the same historical group of old ladies in their dresses...

Lots of vendors selling everything from crafts to food. The carolers were in period costumes and were a joy to listen to. The characters who were dressed in Dickens costumes were a joy to see. But then you had those who were totally out of character with their steampunk costumes. They should have waited till Halloween to show off their stuff. Steampunk has no place in a Christmas event with the Dickens name attached to it. We won't be back to this event because the steampunkers are out numbering the true...

This was our very first time attending this year, so we don’t have any previous experience to compare this one too…

But, it was extremely disappointing and underwhelming. Boring, honestly.

Hardly any interesting vendors, street performers were few & those we saw lacked enthusiasm. Just seemed like an excuse to dress up and crowd the Strand district, but it didn’t feel authentic.

Not a festival we would recommend or make an effort to attend again. Not worth the...
