A quaint place with an old time charm. You walk in and the smell of books hits you. At this point you cant help browse the shelves looking at all the different books and genres they have. This was a neat little book store tucked away in old town Galveston. You can almost miss the entry if you aren't paying attention. Also parking may be a little odd to get right in front of the store so may have to find some parking. It's sort of a tight fit, but they have a surprisingly great selection and assortment of books. They have great prices for the books that they have, and honestly I was very surprised by that. Much of which was cheaper from what I saw than Half Price Books. The lady at the counter was very helpful and kind as she chatted me up as I checked out with my book purchase. It's a place I will visit every time I am in town visiting the beach in Galveston. I highly recommend you come and check them out and support some local small business. Cant wait to see what new books they have in stock on...
Read moreCozy, whimsical, and historical is how I would describe the Galveston Bookshop. Walking in felt like walking into a storybook waiting to be read. With the many quiet nooks, you’re bound to find a quiet place to sit and read. It’s a used bookstore with a broad selection of genres. They also sell records which would be perfect for collectors. I bought a new journal from their many gorgeous journal designs. My daughter stumbled upon some books she had her eye on for some time. The store is huge so I’m sure you’d find something worthwhile. I was looking for some philosophy books and the attendant led me right to them. I was happy to see that the prices were reasonable and within my budget. This helps when you’re a bibliophile like me. This bookstore felt like it has its roots in Galveston. It’s a well-known local used bookstore you’ll be happy to visit. Me and my daughter's left with some gems we can't wait...
Read moreMy son is autistic and has a fascination with stairs. When we walked in he immediately started walking up and down the stairs which lead to the second floor section of books. There was maybe two other people in the store and no one else he was blocking or causing any issues with. I asked the desk clerk where the fantasy section was and as I turned around to go with my son up the stairs, an older gentlemen came rushing out and yelled at him to stop going up and down the stairs, screaming “this isn’t a playground!” I didn’t say anything to him but simply left the store. I’m not sure if he was in a bad mood or if he doesn’t like children but he was extremely rude for nothing. I will not...
