So a short backstory on how I found this place: A few months ago (in July) I was going through some hard times in life and a friend invited me out to eat after a trip to the inner space caverns in Round Rock. I had never heard of Hat Creek Burgers before. So I thought this would be a cool change of pace, and let me tell you, it exceeded my expectations in a very good way.
I gotta say out of many Hamburger places I like to go to, this one certainly is a great place to eat. As some of you may know, I can not have potatoes for health reasons (I'm on a low potassium diet due to my CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease)). Anyway while they don't have onion rings they have something even better that's hard to find at other restaurants: Fried Pickles! And let me tell you, they are awesome. And of course, the burgers are great too. My personal favorite is the Cowboy hat Burger (I think that's what it's called). It's a BBQ burger but with purple onion, cheese, bacon and a sweet tasting BBQ sauce.
Another thing I like about the place is their fry sauces (I'm trying to remember off the top of my head), but they are: Happy Sauce, Hat Sauce and Fry Sauce. My personal favorite is the Fry sauce for my Pickles and the Hat Sauce for the hamburger. The Fry sauce has a nice sweet flavor that kinda reminds me a little of honey mustard. And the hat sauce almost taste like a peppery version of the Fry sauce. But all in all, they are all good. Also, since Sweet Tea is my preferred beverage when it comes to eating at Chicken or Hamburger places, their Sweet Tea is really good. Some restaurants put way too much sugar in sweet tea. Not here though. It's not too sweet or UN-sweet. Just right. And if you want to shake things up a bit, try 75% Sweet or UN-sweet tea and 25% Lemonade. Boy, that is a good drink.
Final Thoughts: I highly recommend you check this place out. It will totally exceed your expectations. And if you have kids with you, they got you covered. They have a nice out door play area with a slide and a hill for when the kids want to play King of the Hill, or whatever.
Oh and I almost forgot. I hear they also have Chicken wings/tenders, so I am definitely wanting to try their Chicken next time. If I recall correctly, they have an assortment of flavor choices. I plan on editing this review once I try...
Read moreThis was our first visit to Hat Creek Burger Company in Georgetown. We went on Thursday around 11:30 am and it was basically empty, but by the time we left, it was packed plus the drive-thru was very busy. There is no table service. You order at a counter, and they yell out your name when the food is ready.
We ordered the Big Hat Burger and the Classic Burger. For the extra $4.79, we opted to make them a combo meal, which comes with an order of seasoned fries and a 20 oz drink. This made each meal around $13 to $14, which seems comparable to other burger places (I’m not exactly sure when paying around $15 for a burger, fries, and a drink became normal, but it still seems crazy high to me!!). The double burger patties were made fresh and although they were somewhat greasy, they had good flavor and really dominated the sandwich. This is a meaty burger where the bun and toppings do not overwhelm the burger. My wife asked for lettuce on her Classic Burger. Although there is no charge for adding lettuce, they only put on one small piece of lettuce which clearly shows that toppings are not the priority here. Even though the menu is not extensive, the burger choices they do have all look very good, and you can customize with a variety of free and additional cost toppings. The seasoned fries were great tasting, but they were also not crispy (limp fries that are a little greasy). Their fry sauce (seems like mayo and ketchup) went very well with the seasoned fries. Unfortunately, we prefer crisp fries, and these were a little disappointing. You can get tater tots or sweet potato fries for an upcharge instead of the fries. I’ll try the tater tots next time.
Overall, we will go back to Hat Creek Burger Company and look forward to trying some of their other locations. If you like a real meaty and substantial burger, this is the place for you. I recommend that you stop by one of the Hat Creek locations and...
Read moreOverall we liked this place but it has potential to improve some things and be really great! The parking lot was odd but had some shade! Entering the building, it was a little of an unnatural flow, but an employee saw us looking lost and was very friendly. We were happy to find a place with a playground for the kids that was not a big chain. The playground was outdoor, lots of shade. They had a couple of slides, but it was more of a natural scape with rocks to climb rather than traditional playscape equipment. My kids ages 4-11 enjoyed it. The restaurant was open-air with an AC area that was refreshingly cooler than the patio area, but it was a nice day anyway. I didn't know this place has such a great mission and we definitely want to support that and hope they succeed! The menu looked good and I was excited about the food. We thought it was a little pricey, but considering the mission and the natural playscape that wouldn't be a deterrent to future visits. The burgers and fries are definitely the star, I thought they were above average--not the best ever, and not very pretty, but yummy! The chicken nuggets were also tasty, but they looked a little burnt. They did not taste overcooked, but the way they looked was a bit off-putting. The Cobb salad was smaller than I expected and I would have preferred the bacon to be chopped up instead of in strips. Also, they forgot my tomatoes and we had to go back and ask for them. Entering the women's restroom, the stall door hangs open to where you almost walk into it. It's just a bit awkward, kinda like the traffic flow of the restaurant and parking lot. There was also no soap in the restroom. We were there a bit after the lunch rush. Thankfully they had sanitizer in several places. Everyone was friendly, the place was "clean enough," but I wouldn't call it super clean, they have a great mission, good space for the kids, good food that is on the pricey side. I hope...
