(Update:) Now that I've been to the store it's interesting how the floor layout is different from KY or FL (Eastern vs Western apparently) stores!
The veggies are located in the back of the isle not right in the entrance, and other product placement is slightly different out east, but it was interesting how the house wares or Nick nacks in the east has at least a whole other side of an isle's worth of items in the next isle over, and not just the one row!
Always had more yard stuff, tools, (bought a nice hand saw once with extra blades stored in the spine of it, pretty cool!) portable floor air conditioners, tower fans, patio items of all kinds, tents, big folding tables, all kinds of kids toys, etc..., (Basically, larger items not just smaller things these stores primarily seem to have) and I hope eventually they get more variety/quantity of items, but I guess all this past year's aggravation has played a roll in the availability of such things.
The last comment is, "know your prices!"
Eggs have been super low cost, other items have been also like canned food, but then other things not near as much, like a bag of apples are always cheaper at the 99¢ stores, and so are other certain fruits & veggies, but like I said other items are lower here!
Wish they had been open back when we bought a small humidifier, cause theirs costs less than the one we got at Wally world!
Don't forget to get the app, cause Aldi has all kinds of sales, you can see future sales also, (I don't say that lightly, cause I hate apps, and only have 2 for stores on my phone) or go on the website, cause they have more deals than just what's in the weekly ad!
(Original review before the store opened:)
One of the things we've missed about the East, when we left over a year and a half ago, was going to Aldi's!
Every week they have new deals, and it's good to use their app to keep up with the deals!
Our vacuum, floor unit A/C, a tower fan, a light strip outside our house, and many other things traveling in our home came from Aldi's, and we shopped for years at Aldi's, before we hit the road, and came where there wasn't one!
Called a number found on the corporate web site over a year ago, after I saw they were supposed to build in Phoenix, and begged them to hurry up!
Just hope it isn't long for the promised Signal Butte Rd. area...
Read moreFirst time at an Aldi.
I've seen many posts about Aldi stores, and saw that I needed to bring a quarter and my own bags, so I did. I thought I was prepared. All was fine until I went to check out, I had guessed that I needed to go to the end of the conveyor belt and bag my own groceries, as I usually do at Safeway. I was wrong.
The cashier was just chucking the groceries as hard as she could into the cart while I was trying to bag, just tossing everything like she was throwing rocks. Tossing cans from 1-2 feet away onto my produce and on top of my hands as I tried to bag. She looked furious and I didn't understand what the hell was going on, I tried my best to bag, and then she finished, I looked up, and ONLY THEN did I see a counter with other shoppers bagging their groceries to the side.
I felt like a dumbass, but I had no idea this was the protocol. Instead of letting me know, the cashier just raged out. Well, now I know. This is a good tip to share with first time Aldi shoppers besides just the quarter and bag thing.
I understand certain things can really annoy cashiers. I'm very familiar with grocery stores, my husband and I both work for them. My husband runs a Safeway. I guess I'm just wondering why the cashier chose to rage instead of letting me know what to do! Lol It was a crazy experience. It was a crappy experience, the produce wasn't very fresh. The Roman tomatoes looked like they were about to expire. And the prices aren't worth being treated rudely. The ground beef was like $5.99 a lb, which is crazy. As someone who has worked in customer service their entire life, I despise rude cashiers and won't be back ever. I was there Sunday afternoon, the 6th of October, there were 2 cashiers, a smiling young man and the monster lady who...
Read moreI never leave reviews, but couldn’t miss the opportunity to give my praises to this Aldi. I just moved to Tempe from Baltimore in February. Having lived next door to an Aldi in Bmore, needless to say I was worried I’d be going into withdrawal from my favorite store. I visited the Chandler store when I first got here and was...underwhelmed. A bit neglected if I’m being honest. Many products were missing/not stocked and the overall atmosphere wasn’t the best. Fast forward to two weeks later and it is time for another Aldis run. This time, I venture a bit further from me and visit this store in Gilbert. I went on a Sunday night and there were very few customers inside which was great. While standing in the wine aisle, I met the store manager Orlando and also Justin. Orlando and Justin are Aldis best employees, hands down! We chatted about products, the new store, and some of our mutual favorites. Justin suggested a few wines for me, and I loved them! Orlando keeps his store in the best condition. And while it may be a new store to begin with, you can tell every employee takes pride in the stores appearance, the quality of their products, and really cares about each customer and the experience they have while they are there. Needless to say, because Aldi is so important to me, it was an absolute joy to find this gem of a store and to be met with such friendly awesome faces. I will be back to this store AND ONLY THIS STORE for the rest of my days in Arizona. Thank you, Orlando and Justin! You guys are amazing. See...
