I recently had a very disappointing experience at the Brandy Melville store in the Glendale location and wanted to share my concerns in hopes of helping improve customer service standards.
I understand and respect the store policy of not allowing bras in the fitting room for hygiene reasons. However, when I politely asked how I was supposed to determine the right fit without trying them on, the staff member I spoke with responded in a condescending tone. Instead of offering a helpful or thoughtful explanation, she vaguely mentioned that the bras are stretchy and adjustable in the back—an answer that felt dismissive and unhelpful.
Later, while I was standing outside the fitting rooms trying to decide which bra to purchase, the same staff member approached me and rudely said, “Can you please move? I need to work here.” The tone was unnecessarily harsh and made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. As a paying customer, I expect a basic level of respect and courtesy.
I asked for the employee’s name so I could report the issue, but her colleague refused to provide it, claiming they weren’t allowed to share names. However, I later saw the name “Mia” printed on my receipt, which led me to feel that I was being misled. It also seemed that the employee was trying to protect her friend, rather than address my concerns professionally. She further questioned why I needed the coworker’s name, which felt inappropriate—those questions should come from a manager, not a fellow employee.
I believe this situation could have been handled much better and it’s clear that more training is needed in customer service and communication. It would also be beneficial to have a manager present and accessible at all times to handle customer issues properly and professionally.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as my experience has made me reconsider shopping at Brandy Melville...
Read moreI’ve always loved shopping at Brandy Melville, but my experience at the Americana location was truly shocking and completely unacceptable. I came in with my mother and grandmother to make a return, and from the moment we walked in, the girl at the front treated us with such rudeness and disrespect. She barely acknowledged us and immediately passed us off to someone she claimed was the store lead.
I explained that my friend, who works at another Brandy Melville, had used her employee discount for me—and no one had ever told me discounted items couldn’t be exchanged. Instead of offering help or even basic decency, the store lead interrupted me and said, “That’s not my problem. This isn’t my issue to deal with,” and then told us, “You can just get out of the store.” Her tone and attitude were completely uncalled for.
When we calmly asked for their names so we could contact management, both of them refused to tell us who they were. One of the employees—who was wearing a bull nose ring—began chasing me around the store like it was some kind of bullfighting arena. I wish I was exaggerating, but the energy was aggressive, unhinged, and honestly scary.
As we tried to leave, both employees followed us out of the store, continuing to harass us all the way to mall security. We weren’t loud. We weren’t rude. We simply asked for help and clarification, and instead were treated like we didn’t belong there.
This was one of the most hostile, disrespectful shopping experiences I’ve ever had—especially disturbing considering I was with both my mother and elderly grandmother. Brandy Melville corporate seriously needs to step in and hold these employees accountable. I’ve never been treated so terribly in a retail...
Read moreI love brandy melville and have been shopping here for awhile now but the new staff is so incredibly rude and not accommodating at all. When I walked into the store they failed to greet me but immediately greeted my (white passing) friend, but ignored me. When it was time to pay one cashier asked if I wanted to pay at her register while I was waiting for my friend and there was no line so I accepted. But she was very passive aggressive and had a lot of attitude for no reason, when I truly didn’t say ANYTHING except for yes when asked to come to her register. Once I paid she slammed my bags down onto the counter and rolled her eyes turning away not saying a single word the entire interaction. Immediately my friend and I side eyed each other and she was concerned and asked why she was so rude to me. I felt so unwelcome so we left the store. I don’t know if it was an issue with just this cashier or an issue with me but my friend was next to me paying at another register and that cashier seemed to make small talk with her and was very polite in contrast to the one I got. I didn’t catch the name of that cashier but she was working there on July 4th around 6pm. At the end of the day though, I am a black girl in a brandy melville store so I can’t really be surprised at all these racist pasty girls who side eye a girl like me who likes to shop there😭And we should question how so many of the people who seem to have bad experiences at Brandy Melville are people of color…Do better before you catch a lawsuit for...
