5/11/2023 Visit We all wanted something different for dinner: the teen was craving pizza, I wanted Persian + my sister was flexible but in the mood for American BBQ. We picked Karas, foremost + first, because it was the closest restaurant with good reviews for pizza + a range of items that could satisfy my tastes. My sister was willing to go the BBQ spot next door, if she didn't find something on Karas's menu. Thanks to their wood-fired oven, we were beyond delighted that Karas completely fulfilled each of our preferences! The teen is particular about his pizza + loved every bite. My wood-fired Beef BBQ with rice, roasted peppers + a side salad of thinly sliced almost-pickled tomatoes, peppers + onions in a light vinaigrette was fantastic! I could eat that side salad every day. The Pork Ribs my sister ordered were so well-seasoned, tender, meaty + delicious that she didn't miss the bbq sauce! She subbed mashed potatoes (good texture + well-seasoned), but they accidentally gave her the fire-roasted potatoes so we got to try both. Unfortunately, the fire-roasted potatoes weren't as flavorful as the other sides; they lacked the tenderness + moisture of an oven-roasted or baked potato. The portions are generous so when I reheated leftovers the next day, I seasoned + cooked them longer to get the desired tenderness. Our server, Baglan was attentive + so kind! He gave us a complimentary Kazbegi Pear "lemonade" from Kazakhstan to try. It was a lovely + refreshing carbonated drink but, as he explained, is not a citrusy-based beverage we typically think of as a lemonade. They also served a bread basket with a flat lavash-style bread + fluffier bread. Karas will be at the top of our list for our next visit!

We visited this restaurant and had mixed impressions. Cons: 1. The presentation of the food did not meet expectations. The menu said “Телячья вырезка (beef BBQ plate),” so I imagined thinly sliced meat served in a nice way. Instead, we were served shashlik with rice, a cabbage salad, and a large piece of bell pepper. The taste was fine, but for the price I expected a more refined presentation. 2. The meat was dry (both the beef and the lamb were overcooked and not juicy). We were too hungry and tired to ask for a replacement. 3. The dessert (crème brûlée) was VERY small. For the price, I would have expected a larger portion. 4. Many items on the menu seemed overpriced. For example, tzatziki sauce was $8. Considering the presentation and the dryness of the meat, I don’t think the dinner was worth the money (dinner for two with tea, one dessert, and tips came to $104). Pros: 1. Beautiful interior and pleasant atmosphere. 2. Live music (a man was playing the trumpet/saxophone). 3. The menu is available in three languages: English, Russian, and Armenian. The staff greeted us and spoke Russian with us, but they could also easily take the order in English. To be fair, we could have asked for the meat to be redone, and perhaps the impression of the dish would have been different. It is also possible that other menu items are tastier and presented more beautifully, and we were simply unlucky with our choices. However, based on our first impression, we would probably not return to this restaurant.

We were walking through Glendale a few weeks ago when we passed by Karas, and right away the smell stopped us in our tracks. My wife and I looked at each other and basically decided then and there: next time we’re in the area, we’re eating here. Fast forward to that “next time,” and right as we’re walking up, we see a DJ set up outside. Totally unexpected. Turns out it was the first time they were trying something like that, and even the servers asked what we thought about it. We sat inside, so it wasn’t loud or anything, but from what we saw, it added a fun, laid-back energy to the place. We went with the Family Combo #1, which honestly should be called a feast. It came with pork ribs, lamb chops, beef and chicken BBQ, beef and chicken lula kabob, fire-roasted peppers, fire-roasted potatoes, rice, hummus, ajika, and a side salad. And they don’t stop there; they bring out a side of bread too. I added tzatziki because… well, why not? Everything was just solid. Tons of flavor, perfectly cooked, and there was so much food we ended up with leftovers for the next couple of days. They don’t technically have a kids’ menu, but they do offer pizza, so we got a cheese pizza for our daughter, and she loved it. There’s also a bar if you’re just looking to grab a drink, and they’ve got a good amount of outdoor seating too. Overall, we had a great time and already made plans to come back soon with more of our family.

Great experience. The restaurant is clean and neat. The inside is up to date on design, which is a refreshing change from many other Armenian restaurants. The servers are all friendly and ready to assist in understand the food ingredients And serving sizes. The foods are authentic and delicious! To start, I've dined at their place maybe 4 or 5 times because after my first meal there I was craving it the next couple of times. The first time I ordered a chicken wrap for lunch, and it had me come back the next day. The next time I checked in, I ordered the Karas' kebab, which apparently is chicken with cheddar cheese mixed into the ground meat and prepped over fire. Being a veteran of kebab eating (just look at my last name), I wanted to try something new. It certainly was a new experience which probably would be better suited to someone not very used to kebab being prepared in a specific way. Nevertheless, it was still tasty and satisfying. Along with it was a heaping side of pilaf rice, and mixed cut veggies with herbs. A great and filling meal. The next time, I went in for a late meal where I purchased their Khachapuri. This was phenomenal. My bowels get upset with the smallest amount of cheese or dairy, so when I say this is worth the pain, I mean this Khachapuri is WORTH IT. First it is larger than I initially expected. Large enough for two people to share and feel full, the bread it was in was so tasty and crunchy, the cheese flavorful and salty (just like I love it), and the egg over it was perfectly cooked and complimenting the flavor. Even though I had to eat it over the span of two days, the Khachapuri was amazing the morning after when cold and reheated, and a thousand times better when freshly prepared. Finally, on another day, I decided to get only Tabuleh, and although I love salty, this was a bit too salty. Still recommended because it's such a healthy full meal, but if you do order it, you might want to ask about less salt. (I don't know if they can do it as I imagine a large batch is prepped per meal times - don't quote me on this, I'm only speculating). My last meal was a repeat. As I'm writing this review, I'm drooling over the thought of having another meal there, so I'd DEFINITELY recommend anyone to go and eat their food. Unfortunately for me, I had to move to San Bernardino county for work, and I can't go out there as frequently. But please go and support them! And tell them Chris sent you (and left a great review of them on Google!) Բարի ախորժա՛կ...

Key points: dry and flavourless food, horrible service in the 2024, under staffed, never got my food, wrongly billed/charged extra, threatened to call cops once complained.

At first we went in as a group of 8 people and everything seemed nice and normal the place wasn’t that busy maybe 2-3 other tables had guests. Then they took the order and the food started coming in quite late. So I assumed mine will come later. At one point everyone else excluding me got their food but no cutleries. Then we asked for it,it didn’t come. 5 mins later we had to be strict and point out the lack of service and then it came. Then my food wasn’t coming so I asked how long it would take. 10 mins later they came with an explanation that my order of meat was divided and served to everyone else which is ridiculous. And given it was a ‘mistake’ we will make a new one for you. 25 mins later the new one never came we ordered for an extra bread basket never came. So I politely asked to cancel my order and give me the bill. The server who later claimed to be the supervisor just reluctantly cancelled it and gave the bill. Upon checking the bill we see he still charged us for things we never ordered and things that we ordered and never came. I asked them to change the bill again to which he changed it right away but gave me another wrong bill with wrong items. At which point I started questioning him that why are you constantly giving the wrong bill again and again. To which he replied with a smirk trust me I don’t want your 3.85 dollars to which when I said then you putting it on your bill 3 times is stealing from me. That’s when he replied saying if you don’t leave I will call the cops. This is when I get robbed and then get threatened as well. I did say please do I will wait here. He just left and someone else came took the money from us.

All of this happened infront of a child and Keep in mind for this whole situation there was no serious apology, I never ate or got my order there was nothing to make up for their mess. The food is not worth paying for, let alone bear with this nonsense. I would give it a negative star if...
