I had made reservations through the hotel’s web site. I picked the military discount rate when i booked it. I am a disabled veteran that has had two major back surgeries. I must always wear a back brace when i walk. I cannot walk very far because of the pain and fear of falling. Upon arriving to the resort after a 7-hour drive. When me and my wife walked into the lobby to check in; there was a bald guy with glasses at the desk arguing with pissed off customer. As I waited for my turn in line, the irate customer went outside. The bald guy then said he would help me now. As soon as he started the irate customer came back in. The bald guy went straight to his irate customer. As I waited for his to finish with the irate customer. A younger kid working the front desk, who looked like Justin Bieber asked if he could help me. I said that the bald guy was helping me and he just rolled his eyes and said for me to go to the front desk. He took my driver’s license and immediately see that it said i was a veteran, told me “Thank you for your service. So, he got me set with my room and I asked if there was shuttle that would drive us a block down the street. Him seeing how muck back pain I what is experiencing and how I was having trouble walking. He said yes, no problem. This young man explained everything we needed to know about the breakfast and pool hours. At that time the bald man had finished up with the irate customer and focused back on me and the young kid. I asked the young kid about what time does the gym opens. The bald guy got up and said that it would cost me an additional $28 a day just to use the gym. I have never seen any hotel or resort that makes you pay to use their gym. He said that it would’ve been free, but I got the military discount which doesn’t allow me free access into the gym. I asked the young kid where we should pick up the shuttle to take us that block down the road. The bald guy interrupted again saying that you’re not allowed to take a shuttle down even a block. He said it’s only meant for taking guests either to the swimming pool or to the train station. That train station is only a block or so away. He asked me if we were going to take the train anywhere and I said no, and he said well you have to walk there. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, and I said you’re going to make a disabled veteran who is in pain and hard to walk all the way down there myself and he said yes. Then I went ahead and just left the hotel and started walking down the road. So later that afternoon we went to our room which was extremely small. I have stayed at many five-star resorts and hotels, and I’ve never seen one this disgusting since I paid $414 for the room. There was no blow dryer in the room and our bathroom door was so messed up that you could not even shut it. I took a pic of the door which I will post with this review. The room had a musty smell to it. It was impossible to sleep at night because children running up and down the hallways outside our room all night. So, when we first went to the mineral pools we went to go try out the cold plunge and the other hot poles on the upper part. We noticed that in the big warm pool, there was no one in it. As we went into the pool, it was so disgusting. It was a blanket of dead mosquitoes and bugs floating everywhere. My wife were so gross that we just left that pool. I would say for the hotel resort to invest in at least a pool net to scoop up some of the gross bugs. Then when I went into big pool when walking down the steps to enter the pool, I stepped on one of numerous pebbles and sharp rocks that were just laying loosely on the bottom of the pool. The one I stepped on was so sharp it cut the bottom of my foot. The free breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs or a McMuffin that tasted worse than anything you could get from McDonald’s. Plus I have never heard of any hotel or resort that only gives you 30 minute increments to eat. I highly do not recommend this place at all.

**One Star – Disappointing!** The Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is nowhere near what is shown in the pictures or described. To get to the hot springs, you have to walk across the street in your swimwear and then walk another 4 minutes – extremely inconvenient and disappointing. The same applies when you’re wet and need to return to your room. The breakfast was a disaster – more like a cafeteria than a hotel breakfast. The selection was very limited, and the food quality was poor. The breakfast room was dirty, and there was no variety. Additionally, you had to book specific meal times, which was very inflexible. The hotel is very reluctant to give out bathrobes and expects guests to use only one bathrobe throughout the entire stay, washing and caring for it themselves – a very unfriendly and unwelcoming service. The hot springs area was overcrowded. There was hardly any space in the water, as external guests could also buy access for $30, which negatively impacted the experience. The worst part was the air conditioning in the room. It turned on at 3 AM with such a loud noise that it woke us all up. We had to move to another room in the middle of the night, which was not only frustrating but ruined the last two nights of our stay. For the high price, you can find much better hotels in the area. This resort is far from a 4-star hotel. Very disappointing and definitely not recommended! Best regards Marvin E.

Our stay was pleasant at the lodge. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The ease of going to the pool was great and awesome that it’s an included cost in the room fare. I do think I would suggest adding an entrance for hotel guests closer to the hotel like the exit. I only say this because it was a very cold night walking over to the pool and back. It would have also been nice to have robes to wear back and forth to the hotel but these weren’t in our room. I think we would’ve gone to the pool more if this would’ve been the case. I also wish hotel guest pool towels were a little less scratchy and luxurious than the ones provided if robes aren’t provided. Ice management was great around the lodge. Also, water in the vending machine was $4 which is a bit high. We didn’t take advantage of the breakfast but nice that they include it. The smell of the soaps and lotion provided was pleasant. The amount of towels provided in the room upon checking in was more than adequate which is a plus. I loved the older photos of the pool lining the halls of the lodge. We visited in the beginning of December and the Christmas tree in the lobby was gorgeous!! The room was lovely minus one little hiccup...Our only complaint was there was hair in the shower when we checked into our room. We did not mention this to staff, though. Other than this, our stay was great and we will definitely stay again.
