Wow!!! What an absolutely incredible place! This park is a true gem, especially for roller coaster enthusiasts, it's an absolute bucket list, must-visit! From the moment I arrived, the staff radiated friendliness and warmth; they were so helpful and genuinely kind. The park itself was impeccably maintained, boasting a charming, homegrown vibe that still felt super safe—no sketchiness here!
Let’s talk about the food—super affordable with amazing healthy options! Beer was 8 dollars (hair of the dog does not work when you are about to get on a roller coaster just so you know ) I got a salad that was so incredibly massive that it took me two hours to eat of course I was suffering and trying to not puke the whole time and I definitely should have went to the emergency room instead... but still! I was blown away by the staff’s exceptional hospitality, especially after my trip to Disney in December, the service of which honestly pales in comparison to GCAP. The staff here truly went above and beyond in every possible way. I swear, they must have hired exclusively from Trader Joe’s, because they were all so engaging, asking how I was doing and showering me with genuine compliments! I found myself thinking wow I wish I could work here. They seemed so happy. Get here early to beat the crowds, but honestly, the wait times were surprisingly manageable. The crowds themselves were actually so friendly and kind to me, because I was traveling alone sometimes which can be awkward, but it didn’t feel that way here! Now, I have to admit something that kind of bummed me out... that ride "Defiance" completely wrecked my day! You REALLY need the neck strength of an F1 driver to handle that last loop! I would definitely compare it to mind eraser. But oh man, the swing? I loved it so much that even after battling nausea for two hours, I jumped right back on. Probably not my best move! Just a heads up—those rides have some serious 0G drops. If you’re nursing a hangover like I was, you’re in for a rough time. Seriously, make this a sober adventure and learn from my mistakes! No seriously. Don’t drink at all the night before. It will ruin your vacation. The Alpine coaster was definitely my number one attraction. So much fun and smooth in the ride time was long. I never had to wait in line for more than like eight minutes. something I really appreciated about this part was that there were paper maps and no app… this is a great thing! people were actually walking around paying attention to what they were looking at, not running around bumping into each each other with their face in their phones like at other parks. the theming was great. they really worked with the natural environment, which is genius! The views were absolutely breathtaking on the gondola ride up and down I teared up a little bit. I’m not gonna lie, though I’ve ridden a hot air balloon and that Gondala was a little bit scary. They should have T-shirts that say I survived it. it feels like you have to go through that to earn the right to go to the park…like you have to be tough enough. And that’s kind of cool. But: prepare for a workout because this park is a hike! If you’re not in peak physical shape—I mean, Dinosaur Ridge was my 14’er—consider training for this. That hill is NO JOKE; it is literally a mountain! And don’t forget your sunscreen when you hit the Alpine coaster—I ended up with sun poisoning just from sitting in the lift twice! 😂 Everything bad that happened was totally my fault.
this park was absolute perfection. I guess I’ll just have to return to make that cave tour...
Read moreA must-see for anyone who likes coasters. No, it doesn’t have the variety of a Six Flags Park, but not being surrounded by concrete and steel was pretty nice. It's small, and has the feel of a mom-and-pop operation, but every employee we encountered was kind, friendly, and went above and beyond to help us out. Also, the new Defiance coaster is definitely not a "mom-and-pop" experience. My daughter and I forced ourselves to go on it once in the back, then decided we had to do the front. It is really something riding a gravity defying coaster with nothing but the track and views of the valley below as you rush down a vertical track and then the subsequent rolls. Very short ride, but well worth it! Sadly, the Cliffhanger coaster was shut down due to wet tracks, but the Alpine Coaster made up for it. It's "just" a set of tracks right above the ground that runs down the hill, but getting to control the speed by myself on my own little "sled" was a blast. And it's so long! The first ride, every time I thought that surely I must have reached the bottom, there was another curve. I'd visit again for this ride alone.
If you are large or have long legs, the Soaring Eagle zip ride might feel a little insubstantial.... I wish the seat had been a little deeper, that I could've scooted my rear farther back, and I'm only 5'8". My daughter and I thought once was enough. Probably a blast for adventurous kids.
The Canyon Flyer, our first ride (intermittent morning showers were delaying some rides) was a real adrenaline rush, too. It's perched on the edge of a steep hill, you're in a little swing, and then it's swinging out over the valley with nothing but a tiny highway and river far below your feet. Really incredible. My heart needed a break after that. Would've gone again if I hadnt discovered the Alpine Coaster.
I like nature, green trees and blue skies, so i wasn't terribly interested in the caves, but the one tour we did was interesting.
Nice gift shop, large indoor café with incredible views that had nice hot food (nothing gourmet, but hot) and hot chocolate which was nice after we got a little wet and chilled in the morning showers. The Smokehouse looked good too, but hadn't yet opened when we were ready to eat.
The park opening was delayed due to wet gondola tracks from a heavy rain during the night, but we had no trouble seeing everything we wanted to between 11 and 4:30, including a long lunch and long afternoon rest. Granted, there were no lines. Maybe you need all day if there are.
We visited Colorado from California pretty much to visit this park, and I'd do it again. Two nights at the Queen Anne B&B in Denver (cheaper flights) then a beautiful drive along I-70 to Glenwood Springs for 2 days. We had a wonderful time! (Highly recommend the lake at Georgetown as a rest stop.) The people were friendly, every worker we encountered was helpful, and most of it was cheaper than California. Would...
Read moreIn October my son tripped on loose rocks in the park area and gashed his head into a square pole. The staff inappropriately only took an incident report from my son while I was talking to someone else (they intentionally distracted me) and coerced him into saying he tripped on his shoelaces. THEY FORCED US TO STAY FOR THIS REPORT SO THEY WON'T HAVE TO PAY ANY HOSPITAL BILLS, LIED ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED, AND REFUSE TO SUPPLY ME THIS BOGUS INCIDENT REPORT THEY HELD ME TO TAKE INSTEAD OF LETTING US GET TO THE HOSPITAL. ALL THEY WANTED TO DO WAS ABSOLVE THEMSELVES OF LIABILITY. I was trying to rush to a hospital & down the gondola. They made us wait as long as possible to make me sign their PAPERWORK THAT they will NOT provide a copy of--which is illegal. THey have a bogus insurance firm that has never been to their park or investigated anything! How many loose rocks there are, how there are square poles that my gashed his head on. All I wanted was get a gondola ride down with no concern/care or our desired haste to a hospital. We were visiting from the East Coast—which made the whole thing more foreign and scary.
They said they’d provide an incident report—now refuse to; I’m happy to get a lawyer involved. They’ve obviously had many safety issues here— a person died on a ride there not long ago. The hospital told me that. They lie: they got in touch with me AFTER I called them—it took him six days to get back to me. Six stitches later & a bad permanent scar, endless amounts of upcoming $$ to get this fixed & suture tending—this irresponsible & uncaring place never called me back to check on my son until after I posted this review— after promising to send the incident report and check in that day. They could care less. Run by people not concerned about safety—some seemingly high running rides & having no concern for a severely injured kid with a gushing bleeding head (no exaggeration). This place is GROSS. Sick to my stomach about it. They have no problem harassing a 9 year-old for a manipulative statement that made it all about him tripping? My son had just nailed his bleeding head—they insist on getting a statement while I’m 20 feet away so they can get their liabilities absolved—pathetic, desperate & hideous of them. To delay us from taking a gondola down to the hospital when my son’s head is gushing blood after a fall. This place is a dangerous joke run by people who are not equipped & more importantly, don’t care happens to kids & families.
Their insurance firm Gallagher Basset is comprised of lawyers and adjusters who have never visited the park, (yeah, they claim to conducted an investigation by taking the details of the bogus accent report as their investigation). Their insurance form was unwilling to investigate or corroborate anything I said—which was that my son tripped on rocks, and not his shoelaces. He hast to get plastic surgery and has more bills coming. they denied a claim before I even fully...
