Perhaps they weren’t prepared for the volume of business they experienced the day before Thanksgiving, but we personally had a number of issues. While most of the servings coming out of the kitchen looked generous, the pasta caprese I ordered was so meager you could see the plate beneath the pasta - and before one thinks it was perhaps a giant plate, it was a small see-through island on a giant plate. I had perhaps 7 bites and it was gone. I suspect they were running out of the dish in the kitchen and instead of saying “sorry, we are out”, they tried to make each serving into three? I don’t know. I do know that I was, no exaggeration, actively still hungry after the bites I had. To make matters worse? They were not even good bites. The pesto was neon and oddly tasteless, the whole dish utterly overpowered by a balsamic glaze drizzled on top - it vanquished any other flavors. The “caprese” part was represented by a few pearls of buffalo cheese and maybe four cherry tomatoes swimming in the cup of oil and pesto with its island of pasta in the center. Anyway. Next issue. My mother’s order of pulled pork sandwich didn’t come out; they instead brought her macaroni and cheese. (Comically, my mother strongly dislikes macaroni and cheese. Lol!) We thought it must be wrong and I did say to the server that I thought she’d ordered the aforementioned sandwich. He sort of chuckled it off and zoomed away. By the time my mum came out of the bathroom to see the wrong order, I’d already finished my few bites of pasta. My son had finished his kids linguini a few minutes later before my mother’s sandwich came out. So: accidents happen, but when my mother said she didn’t order mac and cheese, the server made a point to stand there and search through his device for our order, seeming to want to prove we were up to some kind of shenanigans. He found it and said “oh, you’re right. You ordered the pulled pork.” Yes. We know. Why did we have to sit there and politely watch you research? I ate the Mac and cheese and I was grateful to have it (because as I said, I was hungry still) and it was quite good. I’m sure it was because they were busy that the broccoli was raw (not blanched and still crispy, but completely raw) and couldn’t be picked up with a fork because it was uncooked and it defeated the fork; we had to leave it uneaten as was too tough to eat raw. My sister got a salad which was delicious. So success there! Since we were all done eating - except my mum of course! - I ordered two desserts for us. The fudge brownie sundae and the apple crisp with vanilla ice cream instead of cinnamon. It hadn’t come out before my mom was done so I asked to cancel the dessert. Instead of canceling, the server immediately brought them out. I asked him to give my son the brownie sundae and I asked to get the apple crisp to go. He plopped the sundae at my mothers elbow instead and walked away. When I opened the crisp later, it was cinnamon ice cream, not vanilla. Oh. My sister had asked for a root beer to go (not a refill) and he acknowledged the request but it never came out. We didn’t bother. We are chronic over-tippers so my 18% was the least my conscience would allow to express my dissatisfaction. It was definitely not a good experience and I wouldn’t spend a hundred bucks for 3 adults and a kid to eat...
Read moreI'll just start with saying that I HIGHLY recommend that you start with the Rootbeer Float... With a side of Rootbeer. Wow. It's brewed in house. 👀
The pretzel was plate size practically. Perfect mixture of crunchy outer layer and soft hot inside 👌 The beer mustard was fantastic with a nice spicy type zing that just kept you coming back for more. Definitely the better option over the cheese in our opinion.
We then split the Rootbeer BBQ Pork Loin. Not the flavor pop we were expecting, especially after having started with the Rootbeer, but it was delicious. Great smokey flavor and it literally cut with a butter knife. The potatoes had nice spice to them and were really good. We personally didn't care for the green beans, mostly because they were a little too al dente for our liking.
Naturally, we couldn't say no to getting a dessert and they didn't have to twist our arms very hard to try the Peach cobbler lol And yet again, it was another dish that left us scrapping the plate(cast iron) clean. We wished there were more peaches, but the crust was fantastic and the cinnamon ice cream was a great compliment. Absolutely would be interested in getting this again... hopefully next time will have some more peaches for us to enjoy 😉😉
Overall the place was a great date night for us and we would love to give it a 4.5, but because Google maps doesn't allow that 🙄... we have to play by the rules and give it a 4/5. Sara gave us great service all night and just added to our fantastic night out, so thank you!
This place is now on our favorites list and when we get the chance to get back out here, we will absolutely be coming back for the Rootbeer... and stay for some more delicious...
Read moreThis place was awesome. Such a gem to find. My husband and I switched to consuming vegan/plant based over the last 1-2 years, and this place has tempeh?! Like- what !? How is that even possible?! Im still shocked a remote area with classic American pub food, has tempeh as a menu option and protein substitute. WOW! I will expect tofu sometimes (particularly at asian food spots cause thats more culturally common) but never tempeh, and not at a place like this. We werent sure where we would grab lunch, and were originally considering an indian food spot but were disappointed that none of the 3 indian food spots in town offered tofu as a protein option. Only vegan option would just be veggies which would mean no protein. (Wasnt feeling a lentil dish) (Plenty of indian spots along the front range offer tofu as a paneer cheese alternative). So we pivoted!
My husband and I both ordered the exact same thing, the Bahn Mi sandwich made with tempeh, and a side of sweet potato tots. Sandwich can also be made without the sriracha aioli to be vegan. (Vegan mayo does exist, but i dont think this place had it, nbd though). The sandwich was delicious and filling, tempeh was prepared wonderfully, we were both so please with our orders. This was actually the first time we have ever eaten tempeh outside of our home which added to how crazy and unexpected it was to find this restaurant. And can i just say the sweet potato tots are literally perfect? Addictive. Perfect size, perfectly cooked. Id take those over popcorn for movie watching. So good. Would absolutely return.
We got to sit outside on a super nice day, and our server was wonderful. Very good at her job. Would...
