Read moreAvoid the Tropical Styles store. We visited over Thanksgiving and saw two separate signs in the window saying, "Buy one t-shirt, get a second one 1/2 price."
My wife bought two kids t-shirts and before she realized it, the cashier ran the credit card and charged the two at full price. When she noticed the error and questioned it, the cashier said the 1/2 price offer was for adult t-shirts only, not kids. She said the sign on the door was very clear and did not exclude any particular t-shirt. The cashier said, sorry.
Had the sign been worded correctly, I would not have had a problem, but it's clearly a "Bait and Switch" store.
I'm sure if someone bought two adult shirts, the cashier would have said the discount is only for the kids shirts.
They also charged a credit card fee which was never disclosed until the sale was finalized.
Additionally, to add insult to injury, there are no refunds which is clearly printed on the receipt. I wish their outside signs were as clear as their receipts.
The shopping center owner should kick them out as it reflects badly on all the other merchants.
I'll be challenging this purchase with the credit card company to include the outside sign's pictures (attached) and see how Tropical Styles responds.
That...
Read moreI was sitting in the Coligny Plaza parking lot at 10;30 am today, having a conversation with my wife. We were trying to map out the stores we were going to visit to find four bathing suits for our family. A white haired older security man came up to the driver's side and stood there until I rolled down my window. Weird. He asked me what I was doing there. I told him we were there to go shopping for bathing suits. He said ok that's fine, but then you have to leave or I'll tow your car. He obviously didn't believe me. He was threatening to the point of confrontation with the towing. My wife just said to leave, so we did. We purchased our suits elsewhere. $210. My family is here every year for our 10 day summer vacation. I will not be back to the Coligny Plaza for food or shopping after this display. I have a lot of friends and family that visit and live here. They will all hear this story. I don’t have an MBA from Harvard, but aren't you supposed to welcome people to your stores? There was only about 10 cars in the parking lot. Interesting way to do business. The tenants should love how your security ushers customers away. Good...
