Picture 22 begins the photos from today, October 9, 2021, the worst.. We waited and waited for them to clean the room. Even though in the past month there have been 4 phone calls concerning the lack of cleanliness in the room every single stay. Apparently,, there is no communication between the involved parties to whom we spoke. Each person,, "You didn't talk to me." Such poor management. I knew that with the salesman from whom we boughtt twice, moving to a Marriot property, that this would be an issue. He was the one keeping the issue on the forefront for the month prior. I have pictures to post. I have cleaning to do. I do not feel well so it is taking time. An entire day of my vacation is wasted.
In the years we have been going, it has gotten much better. The week we just spent there was awesome! The room was fantastic, so were the views! The employees were personable, accomodating, and helpful. The kinks? Worked out. It is the best week of the year for us. Love, love, love it!
The One of the problems is the view and sound of the new construction. That will eventually take care of itself. The incessant beep beep beep of that crane backing up made my ears physically hurt. Growing pains. Well, more problems. Dirty. It is so dirty. Walking across the floor makes your feet black. The dryer needs cleaning (the part I can't get to). The washer is not working at all. Going to report now. One bathroom sink was unusable. The pictures of the hair and gunk are from that one drain. Every other drain was running painfully slow. I also had to unclog those. The towel with the stuff on it was from the baseboard just from behind the couch. The cereal and other stuff was under the couch. The weird pictures you can't figure out are the lint in the dryer that needs cleaning out. That, they did nothing about because "it gets sucked outside through the vent". No, it isn't because there it is, fire hazard and all. The washer was fixed. There is so much more that I didn't shoot with the camera. The kitchen light fixture is the dust covered item. Don't come here unless it is absolutely free. They are building more units when they can't even keep the units they have clean and maintained. UPDATE: Today entailed multiple trips to get key cards that worked. Up. Down. Up. Down. It was a broken lock (so the guy said, it needed a part). We left because the incident had already made us late to a scheduled tour. He told us the key cards we just got would work when we got back. We checked in the office before coming up. We were assured they would work. They didn't. Down. Up. Down. Up. It's a comedy of errors. Management is sorely lacking. I suppose they are riding the coat tails of location and are not concerned with how poorly the...
Read moreWhat a scam! My husband signed up for a long weekend deal for a two bedroom suite at a lovely resort, right on the beach in exchange for listening to a time share presentation. He decided to bite the bullet and go listen to the presentation so we could have a nice little vacation with our 5 year old. When we arrived, we had trouble finding where to check in. The signage was minimal. My husband finally called and was placed on hold for about 10 minutes while they found his name and confirmation number. We were directed to check in a different hotel across the street. We thought that was odd. The hotel across the street, The Grand Hilton Inn, was under construction and has a view of the parking lot. But this is where we were staying. Not what was confirmed over the phone and in an email. Okay... it had been a long day in the car and our son was done. We decided to just try to be positive and go with it. The place is under construction with boxes and supplies everywhere. The carpets are dirty and haven’t been vacuumed. Our room was one room with two beds and a bathroom. There’s a “balcony “ that is about a foot deep. Definitely not the luxury resort we were expecting. Upon further inspection, the air conditioning unit was leaking so badly that the carpet was soaked. The room smelled like mildew. I got us moved to a different room with no carpet but with an air conditioning unit that sounds like what it must like to try to sleep next to an airport runway. I don’t know which is worse. When we arrived, a representative from Ocean Oak called to confirm that we would all be attending the time share presentation tomorrow. And we had been placed in this hotel for convenience in walking over to do the tour... My husband said it would just be him since I’m not trying to bring my 5 year old to a 3 hour presentation about buying a time share. When he bought this deal, he was told this would be fine. Yesterday, the representative said we all had to come or we would be charged the full amount of this crappy hotel. I am livid. This has been a total bait and switch sham. If anyone thinks this is the way to make a sale to a potential time share owner, they are sadly mistaken. Perhaps, going to listen to a 3 hour high pressure sales pitch would have been worth it if we had actually, you know, been at the nice resort they were pitching. I plan to go to the presentation this afternoon, and it’s not going to be pretty because I am pretty disgusted with this...
Read moreMy family and I recently visited the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Ocean Oak Resort Hilton head to for the weekend to celebrate a birthday. We chose an ocean-front two-bedroom, two-bathroom for $2,060 (including taxes) for two nights. We were highly excited about the brief birthday celebration. The front desk staff was very friendly during our check-in. Unfortunately, our experience with our room’s cleanliness and quality was well below the expectations we had for a $1,000+ a night stay.
When we first arrived, our children explored the space as all kids do. They quickly reported that one of the bathrooms looked like someone had forgotten to flush the toilet (see photo). It was full of toilet paper and who knows what else. The second bathroom had a balled-up piece of toilet paper in the corner (see photo).
I sent a text to the front desk along with photos of the two bathrooms. They apologized and offered to send someone up, but we took care of the cleanup so we would not be disrupted as it was already after 7:00 pm.
We then proceeded to take showers, and that is when we noticed that two of our towels were literally thread bare and translucent (see photo). At this point, it was too late in the evening, so we did not report the issue at the time. I decided to address that the next day.
On the first full day of our stay, I received a text message asking me to rate how happy we were with our visit on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being excellent. I replied with a 6. Shortly after, I received a text saying they were sorry to hear that and that I would be hearing from a manager soon. Fast forward to our check-out the following day, we heard from no one. No text messages, no voice mails left on my phone.
Overall, the property is very lovely and well maintained. However, the room cleanliness and lack of responsiveness from management for a $1,000 a night room are well below what we expected. While we would love to stay there again, I am unsure, given the issues we encountered and the lack of sincere action on the...
