I recently went to the tiki hut with my family while on vacation. I’ve never written a review for a restaurant. However, it was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a server in my lifetime. I am also in the service industry and so is my family so I totally get it can be a difficult, stressful, and demanding job. However this does not give the excuse be disrespectful to your customer. We originally had one server that was delightful. Then shift change happened and we had a new server. This woman was extremely cocky and disrespectful since the moment she waited on us. Each incident we ignored and continued to enjoy ourselves. I wasn’t going to let it be our problem she was miserable. I have MANY health problems that makes my life quite difficult. And it’s very hard to go out to eat due to so many food sensitivities. When I looked at the menu I was delighted there was multiple options I could have. I ordered in rounds. The first round I asked for a slight accommodation. She seemed irritated. Second round I asked for the ahi lettuce wraps. Which said it contained ahi, lettuce, cabbage, and had peanut sauce on it. I asked for the peanut sauce to be on the side. I totally understand how this could’ve been taken multiple ways and I should’ve been more specific. No peanut sauce on it only on the side. However, when I got it I noticed peanut sauce on it. It’s already a stressful enough situation because I don’t want to be looked at as a pain in the butt so I wasn’t going to say anything and told my mom to eat it. My mom ended up politely telling her I could not have the peanut sauce and explained that’s why I asked for it on the side. She got very aggravated like she had mult times earlier. She told me that u asked for it on the side that’s how u got it and kept reiterating it to me. Again I understand that this was a misunderstanding. And if came across nice the whole time we would’ve continued to enjoy our time their. But instead I explained to her all the things that she disrespectfully did throughout the night that is not mentioned in what I have wrote here. And that you never know what’s going on in someone life. I am very sick right now. And that was my vacation. She made the experience not enjoyable. We ended up leaving. There was just no need to be the way...
Read moreI visited Tiki Hut at Coligny Beach on November 17 and unfortunately had a disappointing experience due to an incident involving a staff member at the mini tiki shack. While my family and I were enjoying a game of volleyball near the hut, we used two nearby beach chairs to allow an older family member to sit comfortably. The chairs were just a few feet from their original spot and were fully intended to be returned promptly. However, a woman from the shack came running over and immediately accused us of stealing the chairs in an unprofessional, frantic, and rude manner.
The interaction escalated unnecessarily due to her tone and accusatory approach. I calmly explained that we intended to return the chairs and that the situation could have been resolved with a simple, respectful conversation. Despite this, she continued to insist the chairs were on "private property," which contradicts the public nature of Coligny Beach as stated on their website. After returning the chairs, I asked for her name to address the situation further, but she refused to provide it. At that point, concerned about how the interaction was unfolding, I recorded a video as a precaution in case things took a more serious or concerning turn.
I followed up with the bartender and the front desk, but neither seemed to know her name, which I found unusual. However, the front desk staff was kind and reassured me that the incident would be brought to the manager's attention. Their professionalism was appreciated and provided some reassurance.
This experience was disappointing, especially since we had planned to enjoy food and drinks at the Tiki Hut after our volleyball game. While I chose to focus on the wedding festivities that brought me to the area, I felt it was important to share this experience to ensure the friendly and respectful atmosphere Coligny Beach is known for remains intact. The situation highlights the need for improved customer service and communication training for staff to handle such situations more effectively in the future.
I hope this feedback helps foster a more welcoming experience for...
Read moreHad lunch when we arrived from the airport and settled in. Food wasn’t great, but our expectations weren’t that high. It’s bar food after all. Came back in the evening and I noticed 2 men across the bar vaping. I politely still asked if I could vape and was told “no”. I complied, even though I was still stuck watching other patrons vape. Our hotel Beach House has a strict “no smoking/vaping” policy and even posts a sign on the hotel room door that the only 2 places you can vape are the Tiki Bar and the beach. So they need to get that worked out. Lol This 5 star review is for a young man named Cain. Cain ran the bike/beach chair shack for the Tiki Hut when I spoke with him Monday morning. He gave me great info and explained the pricing and I told him I’d be back the next morning at 9am. We had been using the pool for the week and wanted to now try the beach. The next morning Cain set up our chairs for us and told us the beach server would be available in 45 minutes. Not seeing anyone after 90 minutes, Cain came over and told us the server had called out sick and he would be back and forth at the shack and as a server…which he never did before. He was fantastic! He was good-natured about the situation, got our orders correct and he was very funny. When we were leaving the manager walked over to us on the beach and almost seemed sorry about being short-handed, but we told him we had a great beach experience because of Cain and we also made sure we tipped Cain cash directly, so our tip didn’t go to the bar. Thanks so much, Cain! Keep up the great work! Best beach day in a long time! PS: if you’re staying at Beach House and or hitting the tiki bar, bring koozies; the beers get...
