Definately DONT recommend. I came here as a solo female traveler to enjoy a nice dinner, but my experience is by far one of the worst experiences in all my travels of any bars or restaurants. I sat at the bar and had ordered my drink and food. I was then approached after I settled in by the hostess if I could move my location so that another party of 3 could sit at the bar. I was surprised at the request but kindly told her I would be willing to sit 1 seat over so that the guests could have some room. She didn't like that response and then proceeded to get mad that I wasn't willing to move to what part of the restaurant for another party. She tried to make me feel bad by saying "well I guess I'll just tell them you're not willing to move!" Again shocked at this encounter but went back to minding my business and waiting on my food. I get a call from a friend and this gentleman comes to sit on the side of me with an open chair. He hears me telling this odd request to my friend on the phone then proceeds to interject into my conversation unwelcome saying "I'm the one who asked you to move" Again shocked at this encounter and blatant rudeness to make a woman sitting alone feel uncomfortable I then asked the bartender if he could do something about this gentleman making me feel uncomfortable. Apparently the bartender is the owner and said "no he's a paying customer as well" I have never in my life had such a horrible experience at a bar/restaurant. Especially the fact that the owner did not back up a female who's alone saying she's uncomfortable with unnecessary attention/conversation from another man. I immediately walked out prior to receiving my food. Definitely don't recommend this restaurant. There are other great restaurants in the Hood River area who I'm sure would gladly ensure that their solo female customers would be made to feel safe while dining in there restaurants. To the owner and hostess word of advice from someone who's grown up in the restuarant industry in New Orleans, you never ask a paying customer who's already settled in with their dining experience to move. It's rude and not proper etiquette. And secondly to the Male owner, you should work on treating your women customers with respect and to ensure that they feel safe and comfortable while dining, because no matter how good the food, if your customers don't feel safe then your...
Read moreUnequivocally, the worst dining experience I have ever experienced! I was with a small group of friends in town for the Columbia River Gorge Marathon and unfortunately chose to dine at Romuls the night before the run. The owner and waitstaff could not have been more RUDE. After a short wait, we were given a table for five right next to the bar. We ordered wine, beer and entrees then preceded to wait 30 minutes for our beverages and an additional 1.5 hours for our food. Two of us ordered the lasagna - what a huge mistake. The food was inedible and resembled a pile of scraped together leftovers from several other dishes. I questioned our waitress about the ingredients of my entree as it included many other items that were not listed in the description. She replied that the meal is made with, "a little of this a little of that". WHAT?? I asked her to take it away as I did not care for it. At this point the owner charged the table and verbally attacked me loud enough for all other diners to hear. He ordered me to the kitchen to make my own lasagna and then instruct him on how I could make it better than him. Of course, it was a 14 year old family recipe and that he has served for years. I told him I was not there to argue about his food, I simply did not care for it. His verbal attack continue for several more minutes until we paid our bill and left. His behavior was repugnant if not criminal. I have NEVER experienced anything like that in any restaurant nor I have EVER been spoken like that by anyone. On a side note note, the other entrees were small and without any flavor - save your money and go anywhere else...
Read moreA critique: I ordered the manicotti pasta entrée from the regular dinner menu. The dish arrived in a pasta bowl with three or four perfectly cooked pasta shells. However, the flavors were somewhat muted, and one shell was cold in the center despite the plate being burning hot, suggesting uneven heating, likely in a microwave. The several cups of torched cheese on top proved challenging—it self-healed whenever cut or pushed aside, quickly melting back into the plate each time I pushed it aside to cut and eat the pasta. This made the dish difficult to manage and detracted from the overall experience. By the time I finished two shells, my partner had already enjoyed his bolognese. I believe the manicotti dish I was served could have fed four adults if the 24 oz of unnecessary melted cheese was meant to be eaten. -Please provide proper, sharp, cutlery for guests who will be needing to slice their food.
Praise: -On the positive side, the service was impeccable. From the front-of-house host to the servers, everyone was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful with all our needs. They managed the flow of the entire house seamlessly, exceeding expectations. -Additionally, the Prosecco was perfectly sweet and bubbly, while my partner’s red wine was bold and flavorful. He ended his meal with the traditional cheesecake, which he...
