I use to rave about this store and their friendly, helpful service to everyone I knew looking for a comfortable pair of shoes. Until I had a terrible experience about a week or 2 ago when visiting the store needing a new pair of sneakers. I'm going to have to try a different location now. The older guy with clear frame eyeglasses was weirdly rude and unhelpful, for who knows what reason. The store closed in two hours so it couldn't have been that I came right before closing time. I have to think it had nothing to do with anything on my end. I was excited about getting another pair of shoes from them but left empty handed. I told him I was sorry for wasting his time and he said, "No problem", and didn't bat an eyelash. I even asked him if he was ok because his mood was throwing me off and he said, "I just don't know what you want", in the most dismissive and nonchalant way. When he went to get some shoes for me to try on he took so long, I think he was waiting for me to get impatient and leave, which I almost did. There were only two other customers, which were being attended by other employees, in the friendly, helpful manner I was used to being attended to. One of those other nice employees even came over to ask if i was being helped because my guy was taking so long. I felt really shamed and bad for whatever reason and left after he showed me what he had brought me in the most uninterested, rude way. Whatever his problem was, that's not the type of job you should have because you have to work with people. It was a really uncomfortable situation in all. Don't get service from this guy if you go, the other staff is way more helpful and actually want to help you find a good shoe. Some of us have health problems requiring us to wear specific type of shoes, the last thing we need is someone being rude about our efforts to...
Read moreJust left this store after scouring the internet and doing research on recommended places to by a quality pair of fitted athletic shoes. When I walked in I was immediately impressed by the atmosphere and design of the store, in addition to their selection.
But what really sold me was the employee that helped me, Devin. We scanned my feet and he and another employee asked me to walk back and forth across a short distance to assess my gait and make some recommendations. I took a seat and Devin came back with three boxes of shoes to try and our 2nd pair ended up being the winner (Saucony Freedom 3 btw!).
What impressed me more than the shoes was the interaction and depth of product knowledge Devin had about the different shoes and their features. He carefully took the time to explain in detail, competently answered any questions I had and more. He himself is quite a runner, the dude averages a mile time faster than most people can max out, and his fastest times are in the LOW FOUR MINUTE RANGE! If that ain't a guy who lives and breathes running, go ahead and find me one.
Moreover, all of the employees at the store are quite athletic and knowledgeable themselves. I didn't ask each and every one what they do and what their qualifications are, but it's clear to anyone with eyes and ears that these guys are not just casual athletes who are briefed on their products from a 1 hour training video. You want knowledge and a tailored experience AND at a fair price? You get it here and more, hands down.
I will absolutely be back and thank you Devin for making the experience worth my drive from...
Read moreOnce Luke's Locker (my previous got-to running store) closed, my husband and I gave Fleet Feet a try. He found shoes he liked that day, but I had to order my shoes since my size Mizuno wasn't available in store. I was told the shoes would ship from another store location outside Houston within 3-4 days. When 3-4 days came and went, I called, and my shoes had not been requested from the other store location, and now the Fleet Feet employee I spoke to said they would order the shoes from Mizuno online and ship them to my house and that this would take about 1 week. Again, 1 week went by and I called the store. After putting me on hold to figure out what the problem was, I was finally told that the Mizuno's I had paid for 1.5 weeks ago were no longer available in my size/color choice ordered...and I was given the option of a refund, which I accepted, and I have already ordered from Roadrunner sports, and I know my shoes will be arriving at my house in 4 days.
It is very frustrating to keep waiting for your new shoes to come in, especially with lots of training runs each week. And I am quite certain that if I had not called, this store would not have followed up with me and would have just kept my payment without any shoes ever making it to my house.
This was a very unprofessional, and I hate that a local running store is turning me into an online buyer. I hope to find a new local running store soon, but it won't...
