I AM not at all impressed. This edit also comes with a response to the establishment. We received a little food for a large price. The establishment responded to let me know they are essentially a bar and that I should go elsewhere to purchase a meal if I'm famished. I find that excuse lacking and quite unprofessional seeing that this establishment carries a full menu with over-average restaurant prices.
My lamb was possibly some of the worst tasting, unflavored, toughest lamb I've ever eaten in my life. I had the tasteless, very shallow, lamb tacos, and I'm praying the pieces of "lamb" I could swallow were actually lamb. I don't recommend them AT ALL. My husband enjoyed his Simone burger. My son in law also ordered a lamb dish which he enjoyed, but the portion was just enough to feed a child. My daughter literally received 4 or 5 small scallops across a plate that took her less than a minute to eat.
The drinks were just okay--seeing that this IS apparently a bar.
Our waitress absolutely never once greeted us or introduced herself. She walked up to our table, placed water, later placed menus and walked away. Literally said no words. Then she returned and asked if we were ready to order drinks. Even then I had to ask her name. Her mannerisms throughout the evening really made us feel like she did not want to be our waitress. Let me make clear that this once 2 star review was coming despite our experience with the waitress.
This place is very small. It looks like a very old Houston home was converted to a restaurant. The entrance has an uneven old brick walking surface and no signs that indicate "watch your step" so please be careful. Even inside the establishment there are no watch your step signs so be weary of the slip, trip, and fall hazards in there too. The patio is also very small and is literally the walkway to the entrance.
My son in law forgot to leave a tip when he signed the check, and not one but two ladies came back with our check loudly asking if our waitress had done something wrong. I need to CLEARLY EXPRESS that the tip was an oversight and not intentional. We realize waiters and waitresses earn their living from tips, so we make a point to tip--even if the waitress appears rude and this is why when we were asked if there was a problem we said no. We did not realize there was an oversight on the tip until after the first young lady left--of which we had plans to take of it on the way out. BUT..
A second lady came with a new check printed out to make sure our waitress had done nothing wrong. I then indicated it was an oversight and proceeded to provide a tip, but my son in law paid it cash. I've never experienced anything like that before and found their loud approach strange. If only this bar/restaurant would actually pay a living wage, then they would not have to harass their patrons for a tip to compensate their staff.
We sat inside at an outdoor picnic table that had an old couch as seating. The table was sticky, and the couch was very uncomfortable with no cushioning. We had to move the large table to get in and out--which was also blocked by a large clock and artwork on the floor...yet another OSHA fall hazard. Additionally, it was pretty dark in that area of the house. I was not all impressed with the ambiance or the decor. It was very old, worn out eclectic.
Overall, I do STILL DO NOT recommend this establishment and do not plan to return. The response from the establishment alone is just unprofessional in my opinion. We only went because our children invited us out to dinner.. Save your hard-earned dollars to...
Read moreWent to Simone’s on a Saturday evening to hang out with my professional friends. The atmosphere was amazing. The menu compliments the beverages and the waiters and bust boys were very accommodating. I rated 3 stars because of a waitress/ bartender by the name of Sophia. Our initial waiter had left for the evening and she came around to check on us. When we asked for the bill we wanted 3 separate checks or spilt the bill three ways. By us being professionals we treated the evening as a casual meeting and we asked to write off the expense. Sophia came back and said the system would not allow her to spilt the check. In the same breath she said well you all can zelle each other the money for payment. As a business professional I had to pause before I responded to her by stating that’s fine but you can use my card and provided her with the last 4 digits of my card number. Sophia proceeds to say ok where is your card? I looked at her and said remember you have all 3 cards as you stated you couldn’t spilt the bill 3 ways. She said I know but which card is being used for payment? I said I told you mine and provided the last 4 digits of my card number. The other guest that accompanied me jumped in and said well wait, I never received this drink on the receipt. Sophia then goes and says well do you want it now? The guest goes no that’s ok since Sophia had a major attitude. Sophia brings back the bill with all 3 cards and my card was ran with the drink still on it. I told Sophia and she went to remove the drink to process the refund. I noticed the check I had to sign but asked for the bill to reflect the refund. Sophia proceeds to say the register would not let her do that but take a picture of the receipt and call my bank if it’s not reflected. Sophia went back to her manager and provided me with a receipt of the drink taken off but I had already signed for the drink as if it was purchased. I said Sophia again you all cannot reflect the refund? Sophia told me to call toast and see how I can get it reflected. By this time I am angry as what should’ve been done was Sophia could’ve consulted with the manager and the manager provide me with cash as the difference to make up or either simply cousin’s provided a receipt that reflected accordingly. I realized the waiter we had before was able to provide another table right next to us 3 separate checks but Sophia and the manager do not know how to use the toast system accordingly l. I highly suggest training as Sophia’s attitude was disrespectful. I tried to educate her on what to say to customers when you can’t provide something as I can understand admitting you cannot provide something is hard to do but the customer respects honesty. Simone’s only get the rating due to Sophia’s customer service as she nasty and need a few weeks off to adjust her attitude and trained on how to use the toast system as it has the capability to spilt checks and process refunds. I hope the owner would consider training her on the system and speaking with her about her attitude towards customers. I will try the owner’s other location as I hear it’s way better but won’t highly won’t return to Simone’s due to Sophia’s attitude. I pay for service as that makes a place feel comfortable. The drinks were well worth it but not enough for us to return due to service...
Read moreFirst time I’ve ever written a review and oh wow. Saw this place on instagram and thought it looked super cool so my friend and I made reservation to go tonight at 7:30. We were a few minutes late due to parking and once we got inside, there was not hostess or waiters at the door so we waited by the bar. A hostess came in a few minutes later and, after we confirmed we had reservations, she said “oh wow- i was just about to cancel your table” and then walked us over to what is more clearly a wayfair coffee table that had been chipped away at with a tired couch that is similar to that of a college party house. I cannot hang a picture on a wall for the life of me, let alone design an entire restaurant, but whoever decided this would work should try and eat a meal at the place they’re staging. Our waiter was a young guy who was super nice and started the evening strong, asking what we would like to start with to drink and asked about appetizers. We ordered an aperol spritz and strawberry margarita- both delicious. They would have tasted better if they hadn’t already started melting on the bar for the 40 minutes it took to get back to us. It was a busy night and maybe things got packed at the bar- so the wait was understandable but still, 40 minutes? And then we ordered some appetizers. The spinach dip, chicken lollipops, and meatballs. Spinach dip had no cheese on it- and needed salt and cream. Condiments? Forget about it. Also, chicken lollipops are just a fancy nickname to chicken wings, and the delicious sauce they had listed? Ketchup. But the real problem was the meatballs. They have 2 meatballs listed: regular and chicken. What we got did not look like regular meatballs, and I KNOW we said regular, but when our food came out an hour after we ordered it, we were starved. Now I’m no picky eater, and my palate is not in favor of the ultra spicy, but when I tell you that I felt like a dragon heaving fire in an inferno- I am not kidding. Literally, the food was what I expect going to a game watch party. I felt like I was at someone’s parents home in their living room eating tired spinach dip about to watch family feud between Sunday night football. And the prices? I’ll have to donate blood to keep up with. The redeeming part of the night was the kind waitress who clearly was picking up the young guys slack- he forgot to bring us silverware for which we asked for upon receiving meatballs. He came back 20 minutes later and said “sorry- I checked on the forks and they’re all still being washed but I figured y’all would figure a way to eat the meatballs.” I’m sorry- WHAT??? Meatballs on the couch with no fork?? My mother made it clear to me at the ripe age of 2 that forks are a must and sir this is a RESTAURANT. I called my mom to apologize for not putting my reading skills to the test prior by reading some reviews. Will be reading reviews...
