I tried Loro on Kirby with some friends last night and I’m so glad we came here! There is a very fun and lively vibe on the outdoor patio with lots of different types of seating, along with both fans and heaters available depending on the weather. You can grab a seat anywhere and look at the menu online or head inside to view a physical menu before ordering at the counter.
The menu has a lot of variety while still offering cohesive dishes that mix & match very well. All of the employees were very kind and helpful, along with providing excellent and quick service. One employee even went out of their way to make our friend’s birthday special with a sweet treat for us all, which was so kind!
Each of us ordered the Yuzu Spritz to drink (I made mine spicy - you can add ghost agave liqueur to any drink!) which was phenomenal! Definitely the kind of drink I’d want to try to make at home - or better yet, come back to Loro for.
We shared the Crunchy Cabbage Salad and the Crispy Potatoes and both were packed with delicious flavor and perfectly fresh & crispy. The flavors of these dishes were unlike anything I’ve had elsewhere and they were the perfect appetizer for our meals.
For our mains, three of us got the Crispy Szechuan Tofu Rice Bowls and one got the Curry Marinated Shrimp Rice Bowl. Y’all… these dishes were amazing!! The tofu was so crispy and all of the flavors of the bowl melded perfectly together. Each rice bowl comes with coconut-scented rice, seasonal pickles, thai herbs, and a sauce on the side. Our sauce for the tofu bowls was like a salsa verde and was the perfect compliment to this dish. Our friend who ordered the shrimp rice bowl loved hers as well!
For dessert, we each had a Dole Whip Soft Serve and got a chocolate chip cookie to share, which were both so delicious! The dole whip had an amazing texture and flavor, and the cookie was so good that we got four more for the road!
We had a perfect night at Loro and I look forward to coming back soon. Definitely stop by for delicious eats, good ambiance, and the...
Read moreI drive by this spot all the time, and I was just waiting for any reason to try it
The exterior is trendy and modern with a slight Asian flare. It shares a building with a yoga studio, and there is plenty of parking in their back shared parking lot
The patio is inviting, and if it wasn't a Texas summer night I probably would have sat there. The interior is nicely decorated. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't intimately lit, but there was plenty of natural light, but not at all blinding or distracting
The menu offers a variety of Asian cuisines and plenty of "American" dishes with an Asian twist (fusion). I was pleasantly surprised that their fusion chips and queso were delicious. I wish they offered just a few more chips, but I understand also that the portions and plating wouldn't make as much sense. The sweet corn was very tasty. And the pulled pork sandwich was just the right balance of bbq pulled pork and Asian spices/sauce
You won't be given a sever. Someone will mostly likely greet you at the door, but it's a seat yourself establishment. You can find menus across from the bar, and you walk up to the bar to order (get a number system). Everyone I interacted with was both friendly, helpful, and professional
Some tips: If you can't find a parking spot in the parking lot there is plenty of street parking nearby. Consider ordering a handful of dishes and sides to share. They have live music on Thursdays (6-8pm). They also have a happy hour menu on weekdays from 2-6pm. Consider moseying down the street towards rice village for a night cap, ice cream, or some...
Read moreOur first time here and we'll it started off, not so great. We couldn't figure out the front door to be seated but guess at it and figured it out. Ordering is unconventional but I guess ordering at the bar is ok then sitting down. The food came out super fast! If i knew the menu a little better im sure we would have been blown away by the food but it was good either way. The queso dip was a refreshing change and had great flavor. Not to much spice and the ships were fresh and really good! The smash burger was out of site! Five guys burgers have nothing on this burger and Freddy's smash burger wouldn't stand a chance. The pork belly was good I got mine with rice and here is where it went south. I asked for some more sauce that the pork belly is cooked with the waiter, said he would check and see if he could get me some but never came back. He eventually did after I was about finished with my meal ( they did start to get busy to his defense ). Moses was awesome he apologized and was more than sincere about it. His amazing customer service with an honest mistake he made up for it with his apology. ( no nothing free )The staff here is awesome and kudos to Moses if it wasn't for him coming back and letting me know what happened we probably would not be returning and I would have only left 3 maybe 4 stars. Moses made this place a huge 5 star experience and a must visit when you are in the Heights area of Houston. Customer service for the bar guys was out of site as well but I didn't get...
