This has been one of the best dinners I've had in a while. I don't understand why, but the dining room is fairly empty and I've seen it sparse on nights when I come for concerts. I want it to be full so that they have more business for their servers but I almost want to keep it a secret for myself!
The ambiance of the dining room is like a warm country cabin in the Hill Country. Very rustic, covered in wood, very cozy. On one side is also a very nice bar where they show the football games. This night the bar had multiple groups of Aggies watching the game. It might be because their margaritas and most of their drinks are always $10. I feel like everywhere margaritas/cocktails are $12 to $18 these days depending on how fancy the restaurant makes them. Here the frozen margs are a great portion. I think if you dumped them into one of those giant goblet margarita glasses it would fill the whole thing!
The menu is great, it's like a mix of Goode Company Barbecue, and Goode Company Cantina. They have a little something for everyone and the prices aren't exorbitant. My grilled chicken sandwich was $15 and came with a massive amount of fries that I couldn't even begin to finish. My parents were able to split the carne asada (served fajita style) And our waitress brought out plenty of tortillas for them. My brother got the burger and said it was one of the best he's had. I'll have to have it myself next time to see if that was true but I believe him based on how good the rest of the food was. Quail poppers were fantastic, and I love how the guacamole comes with all kinds of accoutrement to make it your own.
Number one favorite thing, the service. Our waitress Alima was so sweet and attentive. This is one of those rare dinners where my parents come into town and she took care of my parents with the same level of concern that I would if I was serving them at my own home. I was worried they wouldn't have enough tortillas, and that my dad wouldn't get enough salsa and she made it rain tortillas and salsa. I was also really worried that my dad wouldn't be able to hear our conversation and the hostess went out of her way showing us multiple tables that she considers quiet and let us pick whichever one we wanted. The manager also came by twice to check in on us. Last note, it was my dad's birthday and they let him choose any dessert from the menu on the house. Restaurants just don't do this anymore, they don't care, but Armadillo Palace cares. This place is a haven in the middle of the city.
This will be my family's go to restaurant and I cannot recommend it...
Read moreMy wife and I came to the Armadillo Palace on 11/18/22 for the first time. We had tix to see The Cadillac Three which we were very excited to see them. We came up early for dinner to get a feel for concerts in an intimate venue. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Due to the drinks we were having, I refused to look at the check. :) I just handed Michelle my card, told her what tip to add, and I signed it with the total covered up. LOL
We had dinner at the bar with Brook and Michelle as our bartenders. Both were friendly with a good sense of humor. The bar and restaurant atmosphere were great. We are looking forward to coming back.
As we were killing time waiting for the concert to start in The Hall, we ended up meeting Trish, Bert and TJ and having several conversations with them throughout the evening. Again, all friendly, informative and with a great sense of humor.
In The Hall for the concert, it is SRO. The bar staff there was also super friendly and one gave a great tequila recommendation. I didn't get her name, but Trish knows her well.
Every staff member we interacted with was pleasant and and friendly. Signs of a good mgmt team in my opinion.
We are looking forward to...
Read moreGoode Company Armadillo Palace is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the lively, Western-style ambiance. The rustic décor with armadillos and Texas memorabilia makes it a fun and unique spot to enjoy great food and drinks. The atmosphere is energetic yet comfortable, making it the perfect place for both casual dining or a night out with friends.
The food was outstanding. I started with the famous Armadillo Eggs, which were packed with flavor and the perfect balance of spicy and savory. The BBQ was top-notch, with tender brisket and juicy ribs that melted in my mouth. And the sidesâdonât get me started on the sides! The beans and potato salad were incredible.
What really set the experience apart was the live music and the spacious outdoor patio. Whether youâre inside enjoying the vibrant atmosphere or outside under the Texas sky, itâs the perfect setting to enjoy a meal.
The service was fantastic, with friendly and attentive staff making sure everything was just right. Goode Company Armadillo Palace offers an amazing mix of delicious food, great service, and fun vibes. Highly recommend it to anyone...
