I visited the Goode Co. Taqueria for the first time to meet a friend I hadn't seen in long time. She suggested the Taqueria as it was close to where she was visiting and she had been there before. The eatery is located right off the busy Kirby Drive area, and was easy to spot from the road. Parking spaces were plentiful and the entire surrounding area is a hum of activity with multiple food chains, high end auto dealers, shopping, and other businesses. The Taqueria was spacious inside, with lots of tables and booth areas, as well as outside seating for those good weather days. Orders were taken quickly and the wait staff were friendly and were quick to offer service if needed. (Drink refills, more condiments, etc) I ordered the Mesquite Burger combo as it looked so delicious on the menu board. When it arrived it was absolutely the largest burger I'd seen! I thought it looked like they were made to feed giants, not a normal sized person! The burger lived up to its billing and I made a valiant effort to eat it all. I did, but it took me nearly an hour! Luckily my friend and I had some time and with lots breaks to talk up a storm before eating some more we both finished our plates. For the giant meal the price was very good, and with the great service on top of that I certainly plan to come back, especially if my distant friend is in the area again. But I'll be sure to plan to come super hungry and skip at least one meal afterwards, so that I can balance out my...
Read moreIf you aren't familiar, Goode Co has a few different types of restaurants (BBQ, Seafood & Taqueria) as well as a historic entertainment venue (the Armadillo). On Kirby right off of 59 (now I-69) you will find all 4 within a block. Other locations around the suburbs.
Anyone who knows food, knows that the very best local food is never heavily advertised & often is very low key & off the radar. Goode Co. Is that type establishment. You will not regret going to any of the restaurants.
See pic of today's perfectly cooked Ribeye!
My favorite is the Taqueria, featuring the best of Texas BBQ used to make awesome Mexican food favorites Personally I think the food is the best in the business!
When prepared by the regular chef, I would honestly put the Ribeye up against the best steak houses & the fajitas up against any in the nation!
The family owned business is staffed with really good people.
My favorites are the Mesquite Combo and the hand selected fresh cut 12 Oz grilled Ribeye steak, again best in business when...
Read moreAfter driving by this place maybe a hundred times it's nice to finally actually give it a try. The menu was surprisingly limited. I figured it would have different types of unique burgers but there's just a single $8 hamburger on the menu where you can pay extra for various toppings. The burger was tasty but for $8 I expected better. The onion rings were quite good, but that's another $5 on top of your $8. A friend of mine urge me to try the chocolate cinnamon shake and since she was paying I figured why not. The shake was good with the consistency like a Frosty, so you basically need a spoon to eat it. A little disappointed in a $6 shake that came out of a soft serve machine... Let's just call this what it is chocolate cinnamon ice cream in a cup. Overall I was satisfied with my meal, but I don't think I would go back since there are better burgers to be had elsewhere. For those of you doing the math if you wanted a bacon cheddar burger, fries and a Coke... You would spend over $20 before...
