Update: Although it was quite an inconvenience and required an otherwise unnecessary round trip downtown, I'm very thankful that the garage attendant allowed me to pay the $10 (that was advertised on Saturday) when I came back shortly after it re-opened Monday morning, so I have revised my rating. I would highly suggest posting information about closing at 2 pm OUTSIDE the garage, preferably alongside the sign advertising $10 parking, if that happens again on a Saturday or Sunday in the future. And make it clear that you actually CANNOT get any assistance or questions answered over the weekend. It's just an answering service. (Be mindful that the garage was technically OPEN when I called the number on Saturday). #McKinney Place Garage (owner), I see that you sometimes respond to these reviews. I wish I had read them earlier. Before noon today, I was blocked from my intended parking garage (with a pre-purchased reservation) by the protest, so I pulled into your garage when I saw a sign that said "$10 parking only." I was running late, but when I got inside the elevator and saw a paper sign posted saying "the garage will be closed at 2 pm today," I took a photo of that sign, the sign with the number to call with questions, and a picture of the $10 sign at the entrance. I had to rush to the Astros game with 2 small children. After we got in and got the bobbleheads, I called the number at 12:20 pm. I explained all of those details and asked for clarification. I thought maybe the closing at 2 pm sign had been left up from yesterday. If anyone had clarified that the garage indeed would be closing today at 2 pm, I would have walked all the way back from the Astros game to move my car. The lady who answered the phone was very reassuring and took careful note of my message/ question and contact info. She assured me that the garage attendant would call me back. However, that still hasn't happened. And after the game, the garage was locked. The answering service now says the garage attendant may or may not call me back and that this is not an emergency. I disagree. And it was completely avoidable. I called at 12:20 to ask about the garage closing possibly at 2 pm. It is unacceptable that I wasn't given the chance to move my car before closing. I would have done so immediately....
Read more(1) Handicap Parking: The garage advertises there are 1,200 spots available and there's ONLY a 8 handicaped parking spots. There are 12 floors with elevator access and they need to reserve the first 2 spots next to the elevators on all floors with an elevator. (2) There's no weekend or afterhours services available. If a leaseholder is trapped in the garage because of a system error on the weekend, the call button will only lead to a voicemail. You must pay the extortionate amount of money to exit if you need to leave the garage anyways. (3) Possibly the most worrisome is the garage's management does not follow local laws and regulations when an emergency happens. I was stuck in the elevator for over an hour on a weekday. I pushed the call button and they said help was on the way. About 30 minutes into the incident, I called the fire department. THEY HAD NO CLUE THAT SOMEONE WAS TRAPPED! The building is supposed to call the fire department on your behalf, even if they're working to get an elevator tech to free you. I thought about pursuing legal action against the garage, but ultimately decided against it because it will take too much time away from work (the SOL in Texas is 2 years and I have plenty of time to...
Read moreThis parking garage is now price gouging with additional sales tax, which was already included and hidden in the early bird fixed rate cost. Pretty sure this is illegal to do. The Travis garage does not charge additional sales tax on top of a fixed rate cost that isn't itemized, because sales tax should already be included in the listing price altogether.
The kiosk sometimes will freeze during payment and the attendant will insist you run your card through again and this will result in additional charges.
Also the early morning attendant in charge of opening the shuttered gates in the morning shows up whenever they want to even after 6:00 AM. They had the entrances still shuttered along with the entry ways in the tunnel today. I guess you just show up to work whenever you...
