EDIT: Changed from 1 to 3 stars, because they did offer a partial refund and re-do (for manicure only)-- unfortunately, that doesn't change what my nails looked like for my wedding. For the re-do V, Emma, and Jane did a good job making sure my nails looked like the picture. However, it's almost more frustrating seeing that it was always possible, but that this level of attention and care only comes in response to a negative review, not from the responsibility of doing right by the customer for their special day.
Very low quality!!! Do NOT come here if you need your nails to be done well!! Was so disappointed with the nails I got done here for my wedding... I will not be coming back.
I made an appointment in advance for me to get my wedding nails done and for my mom to celebrate her 65th birthday. I called and explain what I wanted (dip+tip with ombre french, a pretty basic request that I've previously gotten done well at other salons) and asked to make sure that there would be a good tech available for my appointment since these would be wedding nails. During my appointment, the original tech I was given said she couldn't do the design I wanted (even though I had made sure that they would be able to in advance), so another tech came. She tried to convince me that that design I wanted used chrome, even though it was very clear from the picture I showed that there wasn't. When adding tips, I asked for medium length, and she made them long and kept telling me she would make them shorter by the end-- which she didn't, though she claimed that was medium length. I asked for oval shape because I have long fingers and almond shape look like claws, but she still made them almond shape, even after I repeated 2 additional times that I wanted oval shape, not almond. The gradient that she did was patchy, uneven, and ended up looking nothing like the pictures. For my toes, I had asked for a milky pink color (again, a basic request that has been very trendy and that I've gotten at multiple times other salons no problem). The tech doing my toes first painted them white, which wasn't anything like the pictures I showed her. When I asked for a more light pink shade with some translucency for that milky (again, showing her pictures of milky pink nails), she instead brought opaque bright cool pinks and peach pink colors. Two other techs tried to help find colors that again were totally off. They then brought me the color samples and I had to find the closest single color myself, instead of them layering the appropriate shades. I've never experienced this much struggle to do a simple light pink nail at a nail salon before. I still doesn't make any sense. For the massage, the tech didn't touch my right foot, instead barely applying any pressure (basically just lightly petting) on my shin the entire time. She only rubbed my left foot for approximately 30 seconds and then continued to barely apply any pressure on my left shin of all places.
When it was time to pay, I was first overcharged $41 that they didn't explain, but finally said "oops" and removed after I pushed for them to explain what that was for. On top of that, they also charged extra for length saying it was "long" even though I had told them that I asked the tech for medium. They charged extra for shape, even though I told them I explicitly asked for oval (they told me that oval is considered a special shape, even though their website and price list explicitly say there is an extra charge only for "coffin, almond, stiletto"). They obviously upcharged me for chrome even though I said I didn't want it, and they also had the audacity to charge me for cuticle care even though I left there with 3 bleeding cuticles and multiple hang nails that I didn't have when I came. In less than a week, the top coat already started chipping off of 4 of my nails. So disappointed that these were the nails that I will now forever have in my wedding photos. There are many other nail salons in Houston that will do a better job (and won't overcharge you). Go to KomLeNails or Dorado Nail...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Nails of America for about a year now, and overall it’s been a consistently good experience. The prices are definitely on the higher side, but honestly nail services everywhere have gone up in recent years — especially with add-ons and designs. If you’re looking for budget-friendly nails, you’re probably better off with a private nail tech, but if you want reliability and convenience, this salon delivers.
The biggest strength here is consistency. I’ve never once had to request a specific person — I’ve seen different techs almost every visit, and every single one has done an excellent job. My nails always turn out clean, even with designs, and I’ve never walked out with a “bad set.” They’re gentle, never rush, and always open to feedback if I want something adjusted. That’s rare in big salons.
The pedicures are also really solid. I struggle with ingrown nails, and they always take their time to help instead of rushing through. Everything feels clean and sanitary: fresh tools, liners in the pedicure tubs, and nothing in the salon looks overly worn down.
A few things to keep in mind: • Pricing adds up quickly. A refill is around $50, and designs can range anywhere from $15 for chrome to $40–$50+ for more detailed work. If you add a design charge on top of a refill plus a pedicure, you’re easily over $100 before tip. I highly recommend bringing a few design ideas and asking the front desk for a quote before you start — they’re good about breaking down the costs upfront. • Complimentary cocktails are a nice touch, but honestly, the drink options are not great. The wine and margaritas always taste a bit stale, so I’d suggest the salon invest in some better options. That said, you’re usually too busy with your manicure to drink much anyway. • Atmosphere is good — clean, fairly modern, with plenty of polish and color options. They can even do your hands and feet at the same time (even with designs), which saves a lot of time. • They also have a rewards points system that’s worth keeping track of — I’ve been able to use points to cover part of a tip.
Overall, yes, it’s expensive — but I keep coming back because I trust everyone here to do a great job. I’ve never left with bad nails, the staff is kind and professional, and the salon runs smoothly. If they improved their drink selection, I’d easily give them five stars
Update 10/23/25 I went in yesterday for a simple set of sails (white set image) I’m really disappointed this time. Half of my nails look like they’re “grown out” because she didn’t polish all the way to the cuticle and the shape is really not consistent looks funky. For $100 my fingers and toes should look perfect these are NOT. I did come towards the end of the day but that’s the earliest I could get there after getting off of work my nails and the quality of work I get shouldn’t suffer because of that. I usually don’t have a problem but this time I’m super...
Read moreFor two years, I have had an absolute pleasure visiting this location. It was referred to me, and since then I have referred NOA River Oaks to many people, as well as, my own clients to this location. But sadly, after today’s experience, I have to say this will be the last time I will be visiting this location. It saddens me to leave because there have been many great experiences here but even more bad experiences. I’m very big on customer service, friendliness, and listening to the clients needs, Especially if they are a loyal, respectful client.
My finger was burnt by a faulty UV light machine, and instead of coming to my aid, my nail tech said “I don’t understand why that happened, that it never happened to anyone before and my machine is $150” as if to say it was not her problem and she wasn’t going to help me. After scolding me, as if it was my fault that her machine burnt my finger, She did place aloe vera on my finger- as a licensed esthetician myself that was the right thing to do in the moment, but her attitude was less to be desired. The same nail tech could not do the simplest French manicure that consisted of tone variations- that was shocking to me. After a few attempts, she had an attitude with me and said “ What’s in my mind is clearly not in your mind so I’ll let you pick the Colors.” Keep in mind that she had an inspo picture.
Lastly, though my pedicure was done relatively well, The woman who did my pedicure seem totally bored, placed scolding hot stones on my legs, and kept rubbing the same area of my legs with the stones for 15 minutes.
In the end, I paid $94 for a French manicure set and $58 for a pedicure- shame on me to be honest. But I don’t just pay for the service, I pay for the experiences as well. I was not offered any discount other than their happy hour special for my inconvenience. The pictures shown are the inspiration picture, the original set they did and the set they corrected- where they only corrected two Nails per my request. The picture of the original set was taken under cool lighting at their location. The second picture was taken under natural light at home. This was the corrected nail set. But you can clearly see that the tones were off from both sets. One was more gray and cool and the other one was warm browns which is what I requested The nail tech who made the corrections was very patient and efficient.
By the way, this is not the first time I received poor service and U actually have credit on file but was not allowed to use them. The last time I visited this location in August, one nail cracked the next morning and I have a client referred who complained about Nails chipping as well, so please understand that this post does not come lightly. There have been several instances that led to this post...
