This past weekend, my wife, my father, and I decided to see two movies - Wonder Woman and The Mummy. Both of these movies were seen at AMC Castleton Square 14, Wonder Woman in 3D (theater 4) and The Mummy in IMAX 3D (theater 8). While I enjoyed the two movies, my experience with the theater itself was less than stellar.
On Saturday, when we went to see Wonder Woman, there was a fairly long line to get tickets and only one cashier assigned to the ticket booth. As we got into the lobby area, I noticed that the only place to sit was at the bar area, which contained high bar-stool style chairs. I didn't pay much attention to this at first, though it would come back to focus later. In the theater itself, the seats were comfy and were able to be reclined quite a ways back, which is a definite plus. Unfortunately, the theater was so warm I was sweating profusely by the end of the movie (my father was as well, though my wife thought it was a comfortable temperature). After the movie was over, my wife needed to use the restroom, so my father and I waited for her in the lobby. My father, who has had back and knee surgery, has difficulty standing for long periods of time and this is where I first realized the lack of seating area in the lobby was a problem.
Today, we went to see The Mummy. In order to avoid the wait issues we had last time, we bought tickets online ahead of time and ended up getting to the theater early. While my wife purchased popcorn and pop for the movie, my father once again needed to find a place to sit down, and the only place to do so was in the bar area in uncomfortable high bar chairs. When we sat down, the bartender proceeded to card us (my father, who is 65 years old, had quite a laugh about this), even though we explained to her we only needed someplace to sit while waiting for the theater to open. She still proceeded to insist on seeing ID.
I can understand it might be the theater's policy, but it's kinda silly when all we want is A PLACE TO SIT DOWN! Imagine if a parent has a small pack of kids they're trying to wrangle while waiting to see the latest Cars or Despicable Me movie, are they going to prevent them from sitting down while waiting for the theater to be ready? Very unacceptable.
Once we got into the IMAX theater, the seats were sorta comfy. They didn't recline as easily or as far as the non-IMAX theater seats did. Also, once again, the theater was so warm that I was sweating by the end of the movie. 😧
Altogether, it was mostly an unpleasant experience with only a few bright spots.
TL;DR - Not enough employees assigned to the ticket window, no lobby seating except for bar area, decent seats that recline, theater...
Read moreTHE WORST PRICE VALUE THEATRE IN INDIANAPOLIS. HERE IS THE PROOF! Ok folks. I never like going here at all before. I go to the Hamilton 16,just down the road. Ticket prices are better, meal prices are better,I-Max,3-d and even D-box seats. The bus line comes to AMC,so basically it is in the ghetto. I won two tickets to go to "Deep water horizon" on that Saturday at 7pm. I have been twice before and spent a mint. Now here is the rub. Your kids are safer at Hamilton. I got the tickets for free but I got the number one deal. WHAT A DEAL,FOR $16.00 AFTER TAX. And,it's under a warmer. Is popcorn good under a warmer in a paper bag? No. I called the corporate line and told them if I'm spending that kind of money I expect fresh popcorn. I had Austin from the theatre on the phone also first to try to let them handle it first. Austin told me it was cause of new employees. He said he had to go. Then I called corp. They told me that some theatres are using the nacho stand to also heat popcorn, even though right next to the warmer is the popcorn bin. I put in a request to have someone call me. Two weeks go by. Nothing. I call corp. again. In that half hour the theatre's main manager called. She sound not very empathetic. She said Austin was new and doesn't know that all AMC theatres use the "pass by system". She said she loved the popcorn, she said she has never heard any complaints. I asked her if that was because she never got back to them. I asked why did it takes two weeks and for me to call again. She said she was busy. I shared with her what corporate also said about the pricing. HOLD ON FAMILIES! They said it was because they are so close to Carmel. Yet you have the Hamilton 16 who is closer to Carmel and their number 1 is $10.00 and with rewards card can be up to free. So how does a theatre who charges the most from a family at $16.00 ,in the ghetto get to latch onto the most expensive city that as a theatre is not the closest to that location? I asked her boss to call me. It's been two weeks. No calls. Look families we know the security issues Castelton has and will have during the holidays with all the riff raff that goes there and yes I'll say it,the dangerous folks with their pants around their ankles. Hamilton is a great theatre ,prices are low and the experience is great. One more thing. AMC was rumored to be the first ones to allow texting and open phone use in all their theatres. I asked both Corp and manager ,they say that is not going forward. Hey by all means if you want to deal with theatres with all those people who are rude, have phones on,spend a mint for warm...
Read moreI am extremely dismayed at my theater experience this evening. I purchased tickets online for the 10:10pm showing of Downton Abbey. I think $29 for two adult tickets to a movie is ludicrous, but I had a gift card. I paid the “convenience fee“ which I thought was silly. After I looked on your website and saw that if I had signed up for your rewards program it would’ve been waived, I was more irked. So I’m $29 in the hole, I go into your theater and I wait in line while three cashiers are standing at the refreshment counter. I’m waiting to buy my box of candy and a large drink to share with my date, and there is one guest in front of me who is checking out. Neither of the other two cashiers offer to help me and my date cash out. The guest in front of me is having a hard time, repeating himself and pointing to things because the cashier helping him (the one the two other cashiers were standing next to) was signing and motioning to the guest in front of us hinting that he was deaf. He would not speak. The guest in front of us continued pointing and did not speak for the remainder of the transaction. We now walk up to the counter, and all three of them are laughing. The cashier who hinted at being deaf was laughing and in our faces said, “man I was trying to keep that up as long as I could.” I was beyond words, and then he tells me a large soda and box of raisenets is $14. So I waited in line, because one of your fool employees thought it was funny to act deaf, and the other two just stood by and watched. Then they all had a good laugh. The other two cashiers started helping the guests that were now forming a line behind us. So we were ignored, and made to watch someone feign a disability and charged an arm and a leg for snacks. Needless to say, I won’t be back to another AMC theater. It was a waste of money, and more than that, a huge disrespect to a paying customer. Extremely dissatisfied. I would ask for a refund, but there’s no point in getting the gift card back, as I won’t...
