I went for a Commander EDH night and it was by far the greasiest store that I have played at in Indianapolis. We are talking the dirtiest bathroom that I have seen including truck stops. Mold/Mildew on the walls and clearly not maintained or cleaned. The experience was a comedy skit of the challenges of playing MTG. 10 dollar fee to play EDH, get 1 old pack as part of entry and two promos. Probably the worst overall value in the city compared to moonshot that gives you equivalent credit and 2 cards out of their binders or game time and Elf n Moon that do not charge for Commander night. My pod was probably the most awkward pod that I have played in a long time. One player smelled so bad that I was relived when the match was done and the pod rotated the other player in the pod sang randomly. The event fired 30 minutes late. I played 2 games in 5 hours due to two players doing everything they could to neither win or let anyone else win. No singles selection at the time but they were moving store fronts. The owner seemed nice enough and I might check out the new spot but unless they stock singles and set some level of hygiene and delivery standards for themselves, I don't see myself picking this store over other local stores. The owner seemed like a nice enough dude, if not a little awkward.
Edit: To address some of the owner's comments, because honestly, I found the response a little disappointing. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting, and to shrug a shoulder and say "it was not designed to be used by anyone other than the employees" - so you just never cleaned the restroom? Regarding the length of the match, you yourself said that you tried to get players at the table to eliminate another player. That is not an issue with the bracket but with the environment/vibe of the match. If I had to leave at the posted close, I would have been able to play a game and a half for 10 bucks. That is a bad experience. Regarding the "I did not notice anyone with hygiene issues," then you must have just not had a nose. It was pretty awful. Based on the owner's response, the multiple reviews stating he oversold his allocation and had to refund the vibe just seem off, and I will avoid this shop. Luckily there are a dozen other great shops in...
Read moreThey made me feel very uncomfortable. I walked in with a male friend and they were very happy to talk nerdy with him. They didn't even addressed my presence until we walked in the back gaming area and one of the employees showed me where the "girlfriend" couch was. Then after I showed offense at this comment and started to walk out of the store, he tried to redirect the conversation to show how we could enter directly from the parking lot through the back entrance. We went back inside where the employees continued to talk to my male friend. They ignored me except to say, O look she's rolling her eyes. I wasn't. I corrected him. To which his response was to mansplain warhammer. Never even asked if I was familiar with it, just assumed I wasn't.
The entire time I was in the store, neither of the employees asked what games i was into. They just assumed i was arm candy.
Edit: I'd like to thank the owner Matt for replying so quickly. However, I am not the woman that you talked painting and baking with. It sounds like this has happened to multiple women. If this is a regular causing the issue then you need to either talk to him about how his behavior is inappropriate or refuse to do business with him. When the employee saw that I was offended by him, he could have stepped up to clarify that this man was not affiliated...
Read moreVery disappointed in this place. Everyone keeps saying support your local brick and mortar store so I did. First off, it's in the middle of a creepy abandoned mall that you need to walk thru just to get there, ok fine. I met who I think is the owner and he's a very nice guy no problem with him. I bought one board game and pre-ordered another. When the pre ordered game was released i called them to see if mine was in, and they said there were shipping issues but not to worry they will call me when it gets in. Several months go by and never get a call. I made two attempts to try to go in store and cancel my order but they were closed. They don't open til 3pm and closed Mon Tue. I called them they said my game had been in for sometime but they didn't have my number which I'm certain I gave them when I paid for the preorder. So I go in a 3rd time during store house to find it closed and a sign that states they are in the back 3d printing and to call a number of you need something. So i call 3 times and no one picks up so I go all the way home again. 4th attempt few days later and they were actualy open and was able to pick up my game 4 months after it was released. Never again will...
