Been watching for the grand opening of this place as our favorite foods are hibachi and sushi. We're always down to try a new to us place, at least once.
We arrived when they opened and we went in to find them mopping, which I'm not a huge fan of, but maybe that's just me. That had no baring on the 4 stars however.
Maria, our server, was lovely, she could not have been more attentive and gracious. She refilled our waters at least twice, brought out food as it was prepared and helped us pack up our leftovers. Definitely 10/10 service.
Atmosphere was very nice - despite them mopping, the place seemed clean and organized - which I'd expect since it's new from the ground up. 9/10
Now for the food. We don't eat at the Hibachi tables - ever. You get less food and unless you're going to be entertained, it's just not necessary we feel. I'm not sure what people are complaining about in the reviews, but the serving sizes we received were huge - see photos.
Our order consisted of: 3 sushi rolls, the Rainbow Roll, the Pink Lady and the Harmony Roll, Salmon Hibachi with a side of Chicken and the Karaage (fried chicken) appetizer.
The Karaage appetizer was amazing, really great flavor and no grease! The Rainbow and Pink Lady roll were both delicious and the Pink Lady was huge! The Harmony Roll, while tasty, needed a warning label for the huge pieces of jalepeno in the roll - it was unexpectedly spicy and the eel sauce on top of the roll was a bit much. I call it dirty bbq sauce because that's kind of what it tastes like to me, I'm not a fan, but a little would have been fine as the roll was still very good.
The salad and soup were delicious, best soup we've had from any hibachi place we frequent, hands down.
The hibachi - all huge portions, the fried rice, the vegetables and chicken were all delicious, cooked perfectly, very, very good! And although the salmon portion was plentiful, neither one of us were impressed with the sauce - again another dirty bbq sauce taste, even though it was a red sauce, it just really took away from the salmon itself.
All in all, the food was very good, but the better half and I both agreed that the sauces were what we disliked the most. Even the yum yum sauce wasn't up to par, way too sugary.
Our bill came to a bit over $140 for the 3 rolls, the appetizer, salmon hibachi with a side of chicken, which for us is high. Granted, that feeds us for the whole day, but, for us, it's just too steep, especially when some of the flavors we love were really missing the mark. Food 7/10 - only real complaints were all sauce related.
We wouldn't not return, but for the cost and the flavors, we won't be going out of our way or giving up our...
Read moreWe recently had an extremely disappointing experience at Harmony Steak House. I was there with my in-laws and my 5-year-old nephew â a total of 4 adults and 1 child. We planned to order two large hibachi combos to share among the adults, and we even offered to add the child as an extra adult to meet their policy. But the server refused and insisted we must order three full hibachi meals just to sit at the hibachi table because we were a party of five.
I explained that it wasnât possible for a 5-year-old to eat a full hibachi meal on his own, but they still refused. Then a manager came over and rather than trying to understand, insisted we move to a regular dinner table, completely dismissing our request. The entire situation was handled poorly, and it ruined our night. We ended up leaving, and sadly, my nephew thought it was his fault that we couldnât eat there â hearing that from him broke my heart.
This used to be one of my favorite places, and Iâve recommended it to so many friends over the years. Weâve visited before and were always allowed to add extra adults to share hibachi meals for an additional fee (usually $12â$15), which made sense because the portions are large. When I brought this up, the staff at the Greenwood location flat-out denied that such an option ever existed â which I know is not true.
Iâm so disappointed. What couldâve been a great family night turned into a frustrating and hurtful experience. We wonât...
