Yummy Bowl has been a favorite of my wife's and mine for almost the last year. I hope to change my review to a five star, but that will depend on the integrity of YB. When you get a Yummy Bowl at YB, you are allowed to choose your starch for them to add to the bowl you prepare. The choices provided are white rice, fried rice, or brown rice. There are noodles available on the bar. Long ago, our waitress told us we could write Lo Mein under special requests, and save room in our prep bowls for vegetables and meats. And we loved this option and have used it many times.
That has never been an issue until today. This evening, our waitress informed us the manager now says we can't choose LoMein as the added starch, because it's available on the bar. She was condescending as we asked why the new rule. We explained that obviously we wanted more room for meat and vegetables in our bowls, just like people who choose rice for their starch. She obstinately acted like she didn't understand why we wouldn't want to just add the noodles ourselves, "since they're there on the bar."
Eventually she sent the "manager" over to talk to us about it. She was even more condescending about it, vehemently insisting that the chefs can't add LoMein, because they're available on the bar, but offering to add LoMein for us "just this once." (Mind you, this was after the fact: they had already brought our bowls with NO starch added. If our ticket was unclear, or broke the new rules, they should have come and clarified with us before cooking our bowls not as requested). When we asked the "manager" why/when this rule change, she had the nerve to say that this was not a new rule at all, insisting she has always worked here.
If YB is just losing too much money on LoMein or meat or whatever, and needs to change the rule, they should at least be gracious and honest with their customers about the new policy. Better yet, if costs are out pacing profits, raise the prices! Happy customers will pay more, if the service is good.
In addition, this was not even a busy night. We have come in with it much busier and had no issues and received much better service. Even with how few people were there tonight, everything took a very long time (also unusual for YB).
Also, it's a separate, minor complaint, but they bring out a boom box for customers celebrating birthdays. There were at least 4 birthdays while we were there this evening, it was riculously loud every time. The speaker itself is very loud, and there's a loud gong, and the staff and customers are given a karaoke microphone and encouraged to yell and shout. I think the volume on the box was higher tonight, because we've never noticed it being that obnoxious before.
We always tip at least 20% and tipped like 40% this time. We did this because we hope YB will turn away from this poor service and improve. Being stingy is not the way to success. Happy, repeat customers will serve you much better than saving a little money on lo...
Read moreI have never been here before decided to try it out with the family. They were very busy and we waited about 15 to 20 minutes for a table of four on a Wednesday night not bad at all.
The staff were friendly when present but were very busy. Most people come for the bowl experience seeing bow swamped they were I decided to get the sushi rolls options since they seemed more free on the sushi area since people were here for the bowls.
Now never being here the waitress asked what we would like I was wanting the black angel roll listed on the website however they do not carry that so I got the other popular roll and the rest of my guests got the bowl options.
Now my sushi order was put in when seated however it did not get finished or bought to the table for over 35 minutes for Two rolls.
The bowls were brought one a time as finished about 25 to 30 minutes total as well again they are busy !
Time wise for the bowls I completely understand, time for the sushi unacceptable. I watched others come in sit at the sushi bar and have orders made and watched other get food after we arrived so that was not good customer service.
They didn't explain how the bowls work but being with people who have common sense and can read it qas simple enough pile it up choose your sauces don't be weak with the sauces as that is your flavoring when cooking so if something is too salty or not flavored that is on you ! I like that too.
They get a 4 out of 5 starts for lack of more staff for the sushi bar to make sushi and hospitality was lacking I was asked for a refill when my cup was empty by then I was good since it been empty more then 15 min. Our over dinner time was about 2 and half hours eating was about 15 minutes.
Now the food was good and the bowls got no complaints however that hospitality and communication needs some work.
But stop and give a...
Read moreToday was my first time visiting this restaurant. It is close to my job, and several of my co-workers have talked about how great this place is... So, we decided to check it out.
Upon entering, I was a little confused on how this placed worked because it looked like a buffet, which it is not. Instead, you are given a bowl, and then you go to the cooking area to select the items you want for your stir fry.
First, you select the type of noodles, and place then in your bowl. Next, you select the vegetables, followed by the protein (s). From which you can select multiple varieties, such as crab, shrimp, chicken, and steak. Lastly, you select the seasonings and sauces.
Once everything is in your bowl, you leave it in a staging area at the end of the line. It will be cooked stir fry, and delivered to your table.
My bowl contained: glass noodles, broccoli, bean sprouts, baby corn, steak and crab. I selected the "dragon sauce", which tasted like a spicy sweet chili sauce.
I am very impressed with the quality, and quantity of the food you receive for the price! (~$10).
I highly recommend giving this place a try! Especially, if you love stir fry that you can...
