Bring a 395nm black light. Go at night..If you're super lucky you might find a piece of Vaseline Glass. We were lucky enough to find one piece.

Vaseline glass is certainly one of the more fascinating forms of glans tableware. It is made by adding 2 percent uranium dioxide to produce a vibrant yellow to greenish-yellow color. Though Costard glass and Burmese glass use small amounts of the same element, it is the only glass that dramatically produces a transparent, necon-lime color under an ultraviolet light. This is entirely due to its unique atomic structure.

Joseph Reidel created Vaseline glass in Germany around 1830. He initially named it "Annagelb" for his wife, but in the United States, it was called "Canary Yellow." The term "Uranium glass" was used for a long time until antique dealers supposedly renamed it in the mid-1900s to reduce fear of its contents. Experts agree that the amount of uranium contained in the glass is in such low levels that there are no health risks with which to be concerned.

Vaseline glass enjoyed great popularity in America between 1880 and 1930. Companies such as Boston and Sandwich Glass, New England Glass, Fenton Glass, and McKee were enjoying success with Vaseline glass until the availability of uranium immediately halted during World War II. Currently Fenton Glass, Boyd's Crystal Art Glass, Summit Glass, and Mosser Glass are noted as producers of Vaseline glass.

To obtain confirmation that a piece of yellow-green glass is composed of the unstable atoms characteristic of Vaseline glass, put it under a black light in a dark room. The bright neon-lime color is easily identified. Note that some Depression glass made prior to World War II was made with iron and uranium and will give a soft green glow rather than the bright neon glow of true...

Just a little walk and go downhill. Walk all the way til the end of the beach has a little piles of pebbles + see glass (only in that section) We found few special colors and saw other people looking for sea glasses too. My daughter thought it was amazing. Pretty empty some local people hanging out....
