Island weddings done right We knew we wanted to get married on the island of Vieques. So after getting engaged in December we decided we go to the island for vacation in January and see what we could find out about having a wedding there. During our visit to the villa we were looking at for family accommodations, the property manager recommended Jillian as a wedding planner. With only being there for a week we quickly made a lunch date to meet her. We pretty much felt comfortable with her right away and signed a contract with her that day. During the next few days, Jillian made appointments for us to meet with florists, a pastor, and to see venues. We left that week with almost everything planned. The next year became the next year and a half thanks to Hurricane Maria. With the devastation of the hurricane, having to leave the island for awhile, then becoming pregnant Jillian was a true trooper and worked diligently to make our wedding not only happen but also turn out perfectly. This wasn't easy as Hurricane Maria's aftermath caused a lot of hurdles. With the help of her awesome assistant Alan, they made multiple parties, excursions and transportation for all of our 50 guests happen on top of a beautifully perfect beach wedding and reception. Destination weddings can be a little stressful since you can't be onsite. But having Jillian readily available for lots of phone calls and email conversations made it easier. Also having her live there and know just about everyone helps her to be your eyes and ears and everything becomes less stressful. We opted to have Jillian along with her husband Elliott create our invitation suite. They did a beautiful job with a one-of-a-kind custom design. They went the extra mile with the handwritten calligraphy addressed envelopes with vintage stamps (not only for our invites but our thank you's as well) and our beautiful seating chart that was a custom created map of the island. Jillian and Alan were terrific! Our island wedding was exactly how we...
Read moreJillian was able to sell herself and get me into a contract, but once I signed it, the nightmare began. She insisted on receiving 50% of the contract's proceeds upon signing (but the party was still 7 months away). She sent me a contract for $65,000 for a birthday party ; after reading the contract and the paperwork, I was able to reduce it to around $25,000. Remember that this only includes party planning($3,600.00 coordination fee) and catering services (the venue was separate). In total, the party had a little more than about 60 people. I think that was too much for her to handle. She stated in the beginning of the contract that she had booked a biobay tour for 40 people, but three days before the tour, she informs me that the company had to separate us and we were now in three different companies that were booked the day before. She had originally stated that all 40 people can go on one tour and this is what I wanted since it was a birthday, come to find out that no company can book more than 20 people per tour. To get to the point, she had lied to me about paying for the tour months in advance and also lied about booking us way in advance. Another thing that bothered me was the fact that she didn't have enough liquor for my party My party began at 7:00 p.m., and the liquor was gone by 9:15 p.m. She quoted me $75 per person for an open bar from 7:00pm to 12:00am, and it's a little absurd that the liquor runs out two hours into the party. Thank god I had my own liquor since I had to provide it for the rest of the night. in addition she comes down the stairs with a birthday cake in her hands not set up on a beautiful table. !In her hands with candles that are not lit! Overall, I do not recommend Jillian as she is not a people person and can get feisty with you when you confront her about something. If you want to hire an event planner for a Wedding, Birthday, Corporate event or Birthday contact Sonia Romero at Bikes Bistro they serve delicious food and offer the best...
Read moreI cannot recommend Jillian and her team enough for weddings! It would've been almost impossible for me not to have a wedding planner and plan a destination wedding in Vieques much less deal with the challenges of COVID. We had to postpone our wedding a year, but Jillian made it so easy and stress-free for this anxious covid bride.
Jillian not only planned the most PERFECT wedding for me and my husband, but she also planned such a fun and memorable weekend for the 55 guests that traveled from all over the country to Vieques to celebrate. Getting that many people to the island is not an easy task, but Janice helped coordinate everyone's flights, ferries, and transportation which made everything so much easier!
The weekend started with a Welcome Beach Party and taco truck, then led to a Welcome Dinner at Tin Box. These two experience were perfect for our guests to get to know each other which made the rest of the weekend that much more fun.
Our wedding was supposed to be at Sun Bay Beach, but due to weather on wedding day had to be moved to El Fortin de Conde Mirasol. Jillian and Janice pulled off this last minute change hours before the wedding so seamlessly and I couldn't have asked for anything more! IT WAS STUNNING!!! The fort was breathtaking. Everyone loved the views up there ans of course the boozy coconuts! The reception at El Blok was just as dreamy--the flowers, details, and decor that Jillian and her team put together were absolutely amazing.
I loved that Jillian would coordinate with all the vendors needed for the wedding weekend--she dealt with the hotel, restaurants, photographer, DJ....everything!
We couldn't have asked for a better wedding weekend and couldn't have done it without Green Eyed Girl Weddings. We are truly grateful for the coordination, organization, and attention to detail that Jillian and her team put into our destination...
