I am rewriting my review after finishing my second session at PMTS (Jacksonville location). About a week ago I booked an appointment with what I thought was a phase 2 student for balayage. My student had apparently never done it before- it turned out horrible. I felt like my hair was ruined. I went home more than just "a little upset" that night. Let me tell you what- That night I called and left a VM for the school asking if there was anything we could do to fix my hair. Within 12 hours, I received a response. After sending my photos to the clinic classroom leader, Jill, she immediately helped schedule me with an honors student on a day that she would be there to oversee the correction. I just left PMTS and let me say- I AM IN LOVE. Jill was awesome, she oversaw the whole operation and checked in periodically to make sure everything was going perfectly; however, the person who really blew me away was my stylist, Hannah. This girl is so talented. First of all, her personality immediately puts you at easy. Shes funny, sweet, and confident. Hannah and Jill both talked with me in detail about what I wanted before deciding on a game plan. Hannah really took her time and made sure everything was done perfectly. It turned out better than I could have imagined. I HAD to make sure I booked another appointment with her before she graduates next month- she is going to go so far in this field. Overall, my entire perception of PMTS has changed after this visit. The school and Ms. Jill showed amazing customer service and care, making sure people know that they really see clients as people and not just a head to practice on, and Hannah is just phenomenal. If you are in need of color, I highly suggest requesting her ;) The straight hair is after my first visit (only dyed half my head) the curly hair photos are after my second retouch visit <3

What a wonderful experience! The school is in a very easy to get to location, and felt more like a high end salon than a school. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted by smiling faces and pleasant attitudes. I had a bad experience at another beauty school, so I have been so pleasantly surprised. The cost can't be beat! If I had gone to a regular salon, I would have had to pay in excess of $200 for the services I had today! Christie is a thoughtful, attentive and excellent stylist. I came in with the ubiquitous Pinterest photo for her to apply to my hair. She was professional in the allocation of my Cherry Bombré and the cut is perfectly suited to my face shape. I will definitely be following her to get new salon as she graduates this month.

I wanted dark base and a balayage and showed them picture for reference (see picture). the girl doing my hair too forever to put the foils on one side of my head before bleaching the other side so it doesn't look even! Its not balayage, it has harsh lines.. and looks like a gradient, like I have 3 shades in my hair, bad... The instructor barely came to teach and or to make sure the girl was doing it right.. at the end she didnt come to check if everything was okay. The girl didnt even show me a mirror to see the back (because it doesnt look good, see picture).. I don't know what to do to fix my hair now :'( Please let me know what I do to get this fixed.

I have been to this physicality many times and have never had a issue until now. I had an evening appointment in which a full color and a haircut was to be provided. I had a lovely student, and she was a "tier one" meaning she was not as experienced as the other students. Now mind you, this is a teaching physicality in which licensed professionals shadow the students and guide them. Not in this case. The instructor decided to leave the building for break, and upon her return with her Big Mac, she decided to provide services TO A STUDENT! A complaining student who was upset that her hair needed to be cut and flat ironed before closing. This was happening 2 chairs away, and I was able to hear the entire conversation between the instructor, the student, and other students who had gathered around to participate in the gossip. There was no mentorship going on, but giggles and laughing about their boyfriends. I am now sitting in the chair with wet hair. The young lady had never cut a client who had long hair and was requesting long layers. When I asked her why the instructor wasn't coming over to help her, her reply disgusted me." They only come over when they want to. When they do help you, you need to learn as much as you can because they do what they want". I looked at the small party happening to my left and asked the instructor if she planned on helping this paying client, and a paying student who was trying to learn to become a professional. Needless to say, the instructor was completely in the wrong and had nothing to say. NOW- HERE COMES THE CAVALRY!! A large, schleppy woman appeared and decided to defend the situation by saying she is a " client specialist " and walks around the floor to observe if the clients are happy. I asked here where she has been since I arrived at 6pm, and it was now 9pm. Ms Kristen Carroll, the client specialist, knew she did not have a solid argument, so she decided to tell me to leave and never come back. So, I gathered my things with my wet hair and asked her for her business card.It seems Ms Carroll is a SALES LEADER and client specialist is no where to be found on her business card. The issue I have is we have 2 LICENSED stylists who have no regard for teaching a student to become a licensed stylist. The attitude that Ms. Carroll had towards me was more than appalling. Unprofessional, degrading and not to mention more than a few OSHA violations. Food at a work station, a unlicensed student struggling for guidance from licensed professional, and most of all observing combs being dropped on the floor and continued to use without being sanitized. The Paul Mitchell School is no longer the lovely place with a respected reputation. I have called the Board of Cosmetology and have filed a formal complaint regarding the OSHA violations, and the disgusting, unprofessional behavior of...

I went to Paul Mitchell school to get a curly perm Tuesday the 13th and so sorry I did. It started out good as the instructor helped the student roll my hair and made sure it was rolled right. When it was time to put the solution on she told him to saturate each curler and she left to help another student. When she came back she ask if he saturated each one and he said yes. Without checking she told him to put a cap over my hair for 15 minutes and she walked away. I had told them I had hard to curl spots and showed them where they were and that I wanted a curly curly (tight curl) perm. The student only ran the solution over the curl once. They finished the perm and the instructor checked the hard to curl spots and said they were ready. After everything was done the student left my hair sopping wet (never towel blotted it) and they told me how curly it was. Of course it was curly sopping wet and since I couldn't see the back I had to take their word for it. I didn't get home until late afternoon and when I looked at my hair in the back the troubled spots were worse than when I went in there and there are spots all over my head that didn't take and it's not tight curls. I called them and they said they would give my name and phone number to I presume a manager and she would call me the next day. That same afternoon the instructor called me and I missed her call so I called back the nest day and they had gone on a field trip to another school. The person they told me would call me never called and the instructor called back. She told me my hair was curly when I left there and I told her because I couldn't see the back I had to take her word for it. The next day I went back in and talked to another instructor (as the one that was there with my perm wasn't there) and she told me they couldn't do anything for two weeks and it would cost me $15.00 to redo the places that didn't take. She also told me that if I had the whole head done over I'd have to pay full price again. What a ripoff that is. I have to pay to fix their mistake? I told her to forget it and I would not say anything good about that school. She ask me is that fair and I ask her is it fair that I have to pay for their mess-up...

Gosh where do I start! I had an appointment at 10 am and didn't get started until 11 am the student "Brittany" knew absolutely nothing I don't understand how they put students to touch other people's hair when they are not fully trained I spent 8 hours there I left at 5:30PM. She mest up my hair I wanted to get more highlights and lowlights was that so hard to do? Apparently yes for her, my hair was already bonde and well she didn't even wear gloves her hands were literally brown I was like OK well I'm not gonna judge until we get done I tried to be understanding, anyway she was horrible at following instructions she looked like she didn't know what she was doing she ended up dyeing my hair dark brown and there was no highlights really, at the beginning I told her I liked my blonde hair please I want as little brown as possible and she did the opposite of that, her lead "Elli" was the one who kinda fixed my hair she was super nice and her face just said it all while she was trying to fix my hair, when she was done with my hair I liked it and was happy until the next day my hair felt nasty and it turned orange, it still feels like it's dirty I have washed it and they just killed my hair basically. I am just so disappointed I paid 109 for them to play and mess with my hair and not actually doing what I wanted now I am having to fix it somewhere else. The lead knew how long I was there for and it would of been nice if they would of given me a discount for sitting my butt there for 8 hours hearing them say I am so sorry for making you spend all day here with us blah blah blah I know they are students but at least don't put the dumb ones to color hair. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and I would definitely not go back there for anything else. Some need more training then others. Oh and did I mention that "Brittany's" hands smelled like some nasty nasty cigarette it was just horrible I was holding my breath! I will not go back there ever!!! Thanks for messing up my hat Paul Mitchell School! And for just taking my money, I just love people messing...
