Petfolk Veterinary & Urgent Care - Southside — Attraction in Jacksonville

I brought my newer rescue in today for an illness exam. It was easy to schedule online and there was availability starting an hour from the time I booked. From the beginning of the appointment, the staff was friendly and welcoming and immediately addressed him by name and were familiar with my concerns as input on his appointment request form. It was obvious they had taken the time to check his notes prior to us arriving and didn’t make me repeat information already provided (not a big deal but definitely a nice touch!) The facility is clean and very modern— you can tell this place is new (in a good way!) Mary was dedicated to making sure my pup felt comfortable and worked hard to make his experience a good one. Dr. Caldwell was also great, and didn’t try to push any unnecessary treatments— we’re starting small and working our way up if needed. The team was very honest and open about pricing, which can also be found on the website, so I wasn’t shocked by an unexpected fees. His exam and medicine was less than expected, and we left with a plan to return if needed. My old vet relocated to a new area that was just a little too far away for my tastes, so I went with Petfolk when my kitty had to get a checkup. They were amazing!!!

My appointment was at 2:30, but I arrived at 2:15 (I always get to vet appointments early to give Biscuit time to settle in) and they were able to see me right as I walked in the door! The vet and assistant were so friendly and accommodating. I’m sure it helped that Biscuit isn’t aggressive (just a nervous guy), but they handled him so well through his checkup.

They also outlined the total cost of everything and what I wanted before we even started, which I appreciated since I hate surprise costs 😂

I also LOVED that the office (or at least the room I was in) had a floor-to-ceiling window. I don’t know about your cat, but Biscuit LOVES looking out windows, so I think that helped relax him too 😸 Another random thing I appreciated was that the room had pretty much no places to hide, which is helpful when you have a nervous cat who doesn’t want to get back in the carrier!

I recently brought my dog in for a vaccination and was surprised by unexpected charges. The website clearly listed the vaccine at $54, and emphasized a commitment to transparent pricing. However, after the appointment, I was told the total would be $154 due to a mandatory wellness check that wasn’t mentioned online in the vaccination pricing.

When I called to raise the concern, I was connected with a business partner who was polite and helpful. They gave me a $50 discount, though it was part of a promotion already running. I still ended up paying $50 for the wellness check, which I didn’t anticipate.

I appreciated how friendly and kind the staff were, and I was told they would be updating the website to reflect the mandatory wellness check in the future. While the service itself was good, the lack of upfront clarity on pricing was disappointing and doesn’t align with their stated commitment to transparency.
