EDIT: I want to clarify: nothing in my review was misleading. My inspiration photo showed a shorter length than the cut I received, which is why I had to book an adjustment in the first place. I was told the adjustment would be an hour, yet when I arrived it was only 30 minutes in addition to no styling â something I only learned in the chair.
While I understand the initial cut ran over, the extra time did not result in the look I asked for, and as a client, that shouldnât fall on me. What mattered most was how I felt during my appointments: rushed, asked repeatedly to direct the stylist myself, and ultimately like my hair was overwhelming for her.
Also, with my type of hair â thick, curly, coily/wavy â leaving an adjustment without styling doesnât make sense. I understand it may be your policy, but it doesnât cater to clients like me, since you canât even see the true shape and length without styling. Especially after already needing an adjustment, you would think the priority would be making sure I left satisfied.
The reason I left with any confidence in the cut was because Cindy took the time to style and show me what my hair could actually look like â which is why I acknowledged her in my review. My feedback wasnât meant to harm your business, only to share my honest experience as a first-time client.
ORIGINAL: I came to Paloma Salon for a big chop on my long, thick curly hair (3bâ4a) and booked with Andi after sharing inspiration photos. The salon itself is beautiful and welcoming, but my experience with Andi felt rushed and impersonal. She had another client scheduled right after me, and I left with a cut that wasnât at the length I wanted. I was told to book an adjustment, which I did that same day.
When I arrived for the adjustment, I learned that what I booked as an hour was actually only 30 minutes, with no styling includedâdespite having just paid $200 for the cut. The appointment felt rushed again, and Andi repeatedly asked me to âshow exactly where to cutâ rather than collaborating. The bright spot was Cindy, a newer stylist, who styled my hair afterward and finally gave me the attentive, warm experience I was hoping for. I left happy with the haircut, but overall disappointed with how impersonal and rushed my appointments felt. Sadly, it wasnât the salon home I was...
Read moreMonica has been my hairstylist for over 5 years. She moved her practices from Manhattan to Jersey City and I simply could not say goodbye. I travel from Queens to Jersey city for her and its well worth it. The cleanliness of the Paloma Salon is so comforting. I appreciate how the staff handled services during the beginning of the pandemic when no one really knew what to. They made sure both staff and guests were taken care of and that assures me Iâm fully being taken care of. Anyone who doesnât care for their employees could care less about me and that certainly doesnât seem to be the case. Employees seem content to be at work or at least if theyâre not they do a great job at still seeming so and making me feel comfortable. Not only is service great but the products being used are of great quality too! They even have some fun non-related items for sale to add to a nice self care treat (like candles & bath salts/ cleansers.) I always leave content and satisfied and have noticed others do too. My friend actually got their hair dyed there too. It was red and didnât immediately wash out the way reds do and looked great without touch up for more than a month! Definitely recommend them...
Read moreI came to Paloma as a client of Loreleiâs for some time now. I wasnât sure how the transition would be from one salon to another but boy do I love it here! Lorelei just always does such an amazing job. Sheâs so good at what she does, and has done wonders for me in my hair journey. Even when Iâm not super precise on what I want, she is super intuitive and understands what Iâm looking for. Every single cut/styling I get from Lorelei is better than the last! Sheâs incredibly disarming and instead of it being a daunting experience (like it has been in the past), I actively look forward to my haircuts with her.
That being said, the salon itself is also charming and disarming. It felt very professional and the atmosphere was calm, not too overstimulating, and everyone was very kind. I had the pleasure of chatting with Ken. I thought it was awesome that they offer free drinks for guests, and have a nice selection of hair products and good music. I especially found it so refreshing to find a place thatâs transparent about their workersâ wages and what the customer should expect cost wise. I think itâs super fair and a lot of other places should...
