Ocean Magic Surf Shop — Attraction in Jupiter

After much disappointment in my local Ft Lauderdale surf shop for ding repair, I hauled 3 boards up to my favorite south Florida Surf Shop, Ocean Magic in Jupiter. The communication was superb from the beginning with their ding repair person, I assured him there is no rush at all, I just want it done right as I didn't have time and willing to pay whatever the cost. Upon pick up, I opened the travel bag to see a job that was neither professional nor done right. There was still dried resin all around the ding repair with zero care or pride taken in their work. Another board, the tail repair was already chipping off. Neither were water tight, finished smooth, or filled correctly. I still payed him for the one board, which I shouldn't have considering the 4 hours I drove total to get these fixed. These are both newer Channel Islands boards, not shed dumpster boards that now almost look worse than when I brought them in. Best part, the ding repair individual was there, the young kid working up front said he's in the back let me get him for you, 2 seconds later, he's on phone....he can't come out. I couldn't even get the common professional courtesy of acknowledging the sub par work, he just hid in the back. Not the same Ocean Magic that it use to be, and unfortunately so many people in my industry frequent places like this and spend $$$$$. Not sure what resolution we can come...

I have visited this store on many occasions and purchased many gifts. My recent experience shocked me a bit as when I went to pay with my CC, (not a debit) they told me they'd be charging me a percentage on the merchandise. Gee, I thought owning a biz & allowing customers to use a cc was part of business expenses afterall?!?!? Not only that - but, they charged me twice for a shirt - which I had to now return and re-do the whole transaction. But, because of THEIR mistake they told me they couldn't refund the charge on the CC. I will certainly contact my CC to inform them - but, I felt this was a ridiculous practice. I work in a business where we do NOT charge on CC use, and it's for far higher sales than theirs --- A pity that many businesses and restaurants are doing this now. Considering this is not a dollar store --- but one with high-end surf merchandise they might want to rethink their practices. FYI - bring cash...

The north end of palm beach county is FULL of surf shops, but in my opinion the best one by far is Ocean Magic Surf Shop in Jupiter. These employees really go above and beyond to give everyone a pleasurable experience. As soon as you walk in, you are taken back by the wonderful aesthetic of the business and the excellent customer service your receive from the team. They are very knowledgeable and very friendly, it seems like they actually care..... you don’t see that very often with the younger crowd, I was very impressed.
