This venue was the perfect location for our son's rehearsal dinner. The night of our event - We walked into the venue and were immediately transported to a warm, laid back atmosphere with our own music selections playing over the sound system. We had a cocktail hour upstairs with bar and appetizers set up there. Except for small centerpieces on the bar tables (bar tables provided by Cellar 222) and a couple lanterns at the entry - we did no other decorating. The space just speaks for itself. After cocktail hour we headed downstairs and were further transported to a warm, romantic and relaxing dinner. We served 75 guests at round tables (provided by Cellar 222) that we set up around the perimeter. I initially worried about how this would flow and it was just perfect. The buffet was set up right outside the kitchen and we had a bar set up downstairs as well. There is no need for much decorating downstairs either. The ambiance downstairs is so romantic. I had lanterns and magnolia leaves on each table and a few on the fireplace mantel and that was it! The light from the lanterns further set the romantic tone. Just a warm, romantic, inviting space. Everyone mentioned what a great space it was. We were completed pleased. (Lanterns provided by Cellar 222 too!)
The location is in the Crossroads and this is my favorite area in KC right now. There is a rooftop bar across the street and it is just a really cool area.
Steve - I can't say enough about Steve. From the very beginning he was up front about costs, answered every email promptly and because I rented so early - allowed me to walk around a couple more times closer to the date to refresh my memory of the space. Super helpful with recommendations on caterers, bar tenders, coordinating security....you name it. I used everyone he recommended and had absolutely no problems at all!
Highly recommend Steve and Cellar 222. You won't be...
Read moreWe used Cellar 222 for our wedding reception in March of 2023. We hosted a cocktail style reception with a full bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and a 6 piece band for slightly over 150 guests. We had a lot of people in the space, yet it never seemed too crowded. The two floors allowed our guests to spread out and created some separation for those that wanted to dance the night away with the band upstairs (shout out to KC All-Stars) and those who wanted to spend the time talking in the more subdued downstairs. It was an amazing evening and we could not be happier with Cellar 222. Steve did a great job of supporting us and giving us advice along the way. The venue is beautiful and needs no decoration, although we added a few just make it extra special...including lots of candles! From the moment we walked through the space for our initial tour we knew it was the right spot for our event.
Aside from the venue being turnkey ready some of the definite benefits of this venue is the flexibility you have to use outside vendors. We opted to use several of the preferred vendors that Steve provided us and they too were awesome to work with (shout out to Top Shelf Bartending, Dutzel Catering, and Sugar Beats Bake Shop). Additionally, as a gay couple we are always attuned to how welcoming the vendors we worked with seemed in the process. Not all businesses are as open minded as we would hope and it was import to us to work with people who are supportive of our tribe. From the start Steve was awesome to work with and it was definitely apparent he was a supportive ally. We honestly have not one concern, complaint, or issue and highly recommend Cellar 222! Cellar 222 is beautiful, affordance, flexible, and in a great location with lots of parking for guests. You will not be...
Read moreThis is a dude's perspective on the place... My fiance (wife now) and I had looked at several options for our wedding and reception. Since we were taking care of the bill we were really trying to be frugal and didn't think we'd have many options. The very second I walked into Cellar 222 I knew this was where we would be getting married. It's unlike any other space we looked into. It's big enough for a larger crowd (we had 127 guests) yet the space is easy to decorate and make it look like you spent a fortune. Everyone that talked to us at the reception kept asking how we found this place and went on about how amazing it was. They have gorgeous furniture that stays in the space during your event, the upstairs was a little private area for the bride and bridesmaids and downstairs there were two bars that were accessible to our bartenders and waitstaff. I really couldn't have asked for anything that would have made our special night anymore perfect that they didn't try and provide. We had a security officer provided by Cellar 222 that was on site the entire time. Our bar staff used the rear entrance to load in the refreshments and catering and didn't have to disrupt our event because we had moved to the upstairs for our toasts while the room was prepared for the reception. If you're not looking to bring in a DJ they even had a sound system where you could just hook in your own device. We did have a DJ and there was plenty of room for all of us to dance the night away. I could go on and on about how awesome this place is. I promise you need to put this one on your list. You...
