My friends and I met for brunch recently here and unfortunately we did not have the best experience. Upon my arrival our waiter (Ryan) seemed to be cool and down to earth. we were ready to order food. I had raised a couple question in regard to the menu items because I am pescatarian. My first question was in regard to the biscuits and gravy, I simply asked if they served meatless gravy Ryan said sarcastically that all biscuits and gravy come with meat. As if we’re not in 2022 where that is not a validated question. I let it slide and went ahead and ordered the Salmon Benedict. There were about 5 of us,he came down to the last girl. It was asked if everyone had ordered and Ryan then proceeded to say he didn’t get my order or my friends . (My friend was the only one who didn’t order, I saw Ryan write down my order) in Ryan’s exact words “well I don’t know what she wants as she asked about 3 different things”. I thought he was joking like when waiters try to warm up to guest. I realized he wasn’t as he continued to rush us. One friend even asked about the cinnamon rolls and Ryan stated to us “you don’t want to order those”. Not sure what kind of day Ryan was having but no one was rude or even said anything back when he was sarcastic and impatient. My friends constantly had to ask for refills on their bottomless, I found Ryan & asked him to put in a To Go order Chicken & Biscuit (keep reading we will come back to it) Ryan looked annoyed that I asked for a to go order (at least a solid 1.5hrs before they closed) and he said “yes”. shortly after that food orders come out. It was my group & there was another group next to us. There seemed to be miscommunication in the kitchen and or with the staff as some of our orders were brought out. A female waitress even said “you guys got the wrong order”. What seemed to happen is both tables ordered similar meals and it was not told which table to serve first. When we were asking about orders both servers seemed frustrated and you could tell they were frustrated with Ryan. Now while Ryan wasn’t giving us the best service, I did feel bad that his coworkers felt comfortable treating him like that in front of customers. Half the table had their food, and my friend who ordered the Tavern breakfast (the most traditional and what would seem fastest meal to make) has not received her meal. Ryan actually came back and took her order when he originally was writing down orders, she was the first person to order. Another friend arrives about 20min later ordered her meal. I have no complaints about the food because it was actually good. My friend ordered her chicken and biscuit. Her meal came with a bread bun and no biscuit, Ryan could have said they were out and did not . When Ryan brought her order out, I did what any other customer would do, follow up on my to go order. Ryan stated “well it’s 2:28 and our kitchen closes at 2”. I then reminded him that he said “yes” to putting my order in over an hour ago. Ryan then proceeded to state “well that’s Mybad” and I asked “is there anything we could do about this?” Ryan stated “no” and proceeded to state how the kitchen was closed. It was loud so I said “I’m sorry” to get him to repeat what I didn’t hear. Ryan then walks off with no explanation. I have never been treated like that at any establishment where the server rudely walks off after being asked a question No one was yelling at him, no one was matching his energy, we got the manager and he asked what was going on but then proceeded to ask “didn’t we comp your drinks?” How you act like you didn’t know what was going on then know we had our drinks comp? It was the lack of communication and both Ryan and the manager seemed like they didn’t care. We were honestly asking if our tickets were right as we were willing to pay for our drinks overlooking the horrible service. We were the only African American group in the back and none of the other tables experienced this treatment. Like I said the food was good but the service was equivalent to re heated...
Read moreLet me start by saying we used to go there a lot. The ownership changed and quality went downhill badly. So we haven't been there for a couple years. We went tonight based on the reviews being much better Sure enough, the food and service was great. Just like the old days. We were told they had changed hands recently. So dinner is over, we have paid the check all is well. We spoke to manager complemented them on how nice the evening was and said we would be back soon. Just didn't think this soon. We parked in a lot across the street in the spot for BOULEVARD TAVERN PARKING ONLY. We go out, the car is gone. Apparently stolen. After a minute or two, a tow truck pulls up. I informed him my car was gone. He said he towed it at the direction of the Boulevard Tavern manager (Blake I think). I stormed inside and told the manager what he had done. He apologized all over himself and called an UBER for us to be taken to the tow lot. One we finally got there, we had to call some number to speak to the dispatcher who was snotty and hung up on me (granted I probably had it coming at that point). After ten minutes standing in the mud and the rain, the tow truck driver arrived with another car (Benz this time). He too apologized and pointed me out o my car and we drove off. While waiting in the rain I had to call the Boulevard manager to tell him the lot wouldn't give me the car and in five minutes I was going to call the police. He called the tow driver, who finally pulled up shortly thereafter. The manager wanted my email address (which I did not provide) and promised to call me the next day. I told him not to bother to try and offer me free meals or anything else because I WAS NEVER EVER going to Boulevard Tavern again. So there it is. Food and service was good. Experience terrible. Oh I forgot to add. Had tickets for a show that we missed so we are out that too. Take this as you will.
After I wrote this, I see from other reviews that this is not an isolated incident. It has happened to others. The owner contacted me some days later and left his number so he could "make things right". While I had no intention of ever going back, I did call to give him a chance. True to form, he didn't answer and never responded to my message. So it seems pretty clear to me how they value...
Read moreMe and my family had reservations at 12:30pm today.(3 of us total) Had high hopes for this place as we were seated very quickly, but then quickly came to a turn as we waited and waited and waited very patiently to even be served water.(we were never even served water or even had the chance to see a server). The food looked great as it was being served to fellow tables that were even seated at the same time as us and after us. I waited five minutes then another 10 minutes then another 15 minutes and anyone with a child knows especially a 3 year old it’s very hard very proud of my daughter for being very patient as we were waiting to even be greated by the server and NEVER WERE. We left after 15-20 minutes of waiting to even see anyone. No one even asked why we got up to leave but the other tables next to us soon realize why we got up to leave. People that were seated down at the same time as us had water even had a drinks from the bar of what they ordered even tables that were sat significantly after us already had water Their drink order and were talking with a waitress putting their order in. I am not sure what is going on over there I don’t want to make any assumptions but I am going to be speaking on my experience there today as a first timer for going for Sunday brunch at blvd tavern on my one and only day off thank you. (I also come from a food and service industry background so you can throw any excuse of why this happened there still was no reason)I am trying to give my neighborhood restaurants a chance since all the gentrification but so far they have been disappointing. But if anyone else experiences this there is a place called Society right across the street we were sat down quickly with no reservation needed and had great service. Literally had water within 1 min of being seated thank you society I...
