Town Topic Hamburgers Broadway — Restaurant in Kansas City

I went there tonight and I ordered a single cheeseburger with tater tots and my friend ordered after me a tater tot and a french fry and my friend got their order back before me after waiting 30 minutes. After my friend got the order before me I went to the window after waiting 45 minutes and asked was my food ready yet and she said you ordered a lot of food and it's not ready yet. I responded by saying I didn't order a lot of food I only ordered a cheeseburger and a tater tot. She replied and said it's not ready yet with a attitude. I asked her did she know when it might be ready because I had already been waiting 45 minutes. She slammed the window in my face. I waited another 15 minutes went back to the window and asked her was my order ready yet she said I canceled your order because you didn't want to wait. I paid with a debit card so she said she put the money back on my card. I responded by saying how did not want to wait and I've been waiting over 45 minutes now. She closed the window in my face again. I took a picture of her in the side window and she was trying to hide her face because she knew she was wrong and called the police on duty over because i took a picture of her. The policeman came over and I told him what happened and the policeman told me that it was good I took a picture of her because I can tell the manager or the owner what happened the next day. And to make sure that I get my money back on my card that she said that she refunded. I will never go back here the cashier at the window was disrespected for no reason ! I think they gave my food away. Then she got mad at me for just waiting for my food forever! This will be my last time at unprofessional...

Was walking through downtown KC and saw this vintage diner type burger joint in the distance that caught my eye. I told bae I wanted to check it out so naturally we walk up and it’s closed lol. A quick google search showed me there was one .5 mile away so we went to check it out!

Town Topic is 8 seats and a grill lol. It might’ve been 50 outside but it was 88 in there lol. I get the whole aesthetic vibe of that but no. Anyways it’s super cramped in there but the staff immediately took my order and it was ready in 10 mins. Something about a freshly made burger is a vibe.

Cheeseburger 8/10 - this isn’t a place with the worker having blue hair and a nose ring. You can taste the sweat in the meat of hard work. This is a really good burger and you can customize it as you like, I’m a lettuce cheese and mustard guy. Simple.

Fries 7/10 - nothing to rave about here. They get the job done. 10 points 8 rebounds.

I would def come back but to pay $21 for a burger fries and a drink. That’s quite steep. So like the vibe and food is good but for that price just go McDonald’s fam

I called to place an order but first said I’d never been there before… I asked pricing before I placed my order to make sure the prices fit my budget. I had heard so much great stuff about this place and finally had the chance to get it! In the area from Texas visiting and really disappointed. The lady that answered said they don’t normally give prices out over the phone and when I asked what came on the burgers etc she sounded frustrated! She told me they’re always busy on Fridays and I told her I understood and wanted to order over the phone if possible because I didnt see a way to order online and I didn’t see prices online either. Anyways I was ok with the pricing since I heard it was really good and saw the photos online of other customers. I got the food and saw the onion rings had like 6 in them and each one was BURNT. No flavor either.. such a waste of $6! The burger was super tiny. I paid 50 cents for ONE THIN SLICE of tomato and 50 cents for ONE SMALL square of romaine lettuce. Super disappointing to be honest. I will never go back or recommend it...
