Waipouli Beach is one of the best beaches on the east side of Kauai. Family friendly and absolutely no trash or litter anywhere. This beach is the best for sunrise photography. There are a few down sides- (1) the offshore current is unpredictable and very dangerous. Children especially need close supervision. (2) the coral reef on this beach is almost completely dead, and as a result, there is very little fish life. (3) the rocks and dead coral are very sharp and can cause very painful cuts and infections. Snorkeling here is, well, not the best. But the positives far outweigh some of the negatives.
