Sleeping Giant Grill - plate lunch so delicious, it will have you coming back for more! I looked up places with the best plate lunch before we arrived to Kauai and Sleeping Giant Grill seemed to be very well rated and highly recommended. The restaurant is on the smaller side and tucked away in a smaller stripe mall behind the Coconut Marketplace. There is limited outdoor seating, and also a larger indoor seating area found at the back of the restaurant.

My husband ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and I got the Habanero Chicken - both ordered with the mac salad and rice. The portions were fairly large, although I would have loved even more mac salad because I love to have all components of the plate in every bite and ran out of mac salad quickly. This is the first time I've had a mac salad with potatoes in it, and although I'm not usually an enjoyer of potato salad, this was delicious!!

If I can recommend one item off of this menu, it would be the Habanero Chicken. It was cooked to perfection - the breading was perfectly crispy and the heat level was decently spicy. The flavor was so delicious, I bought an extra side of the sauce to drizzle over the chicken. Although they offer a wide variety of items on their menu, I ordered the same thing on two different occasions because it was THAT good.

This was our first meal upon arriving to the island and it truly set the bar so high! I absolutely devoured everything on my plate and the second I finished eating, I had one of those moments where I thought, "I will be very bummed if we don't return here again before the end of our trip." Don't worry -...

After six trips to Hawaii, Sleeping Giant Grill served the best fish I’ve had on any island—and it’s not even close. Hidden in a strip mall and about as unassuming as it gets, this spot absolutely delivers on flavor. We went twice and were seriously debating a third visit, but unfortunately, it didn’t fit with our rental car drop-off schedule.

The poke was incredible—fresh, perfectly seasoned, and with a zippy sauce that had just the right amount of kick without overpowering the fish. The rice was cooked to perfection, and the mac salad was heavenly—creamy, flavorful, and the ideal side to balance the meal. We also tried the Ono plate, which was flaky, tender, and cooked to perfection, but the real star was the Ahi plate. We ordered it twice, once with the chili sauce (which was great) and once with the butter sauce—and the butter sauce is the one to get. I will dream about that dish forever. The Ahi was perfectly seared, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and absolutely unforgettable.

There’s no alcohol here, but honestly, you don’t need it. Nothing should distract you from how good the food is. If you eat at one of the small tables out front, they have a soy sauce mix on the table that takes the rice to another level.

This place is an absolute must-visit on Kauai. Skip the fancy waterfront restaurants—this is the fish experience you’re...

We arrived at the Aston Islander around 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022. After a day of traveling, my wife and I stopped at Sleeping Giant for dinner. Out of all the places we would eat at during our vacation, the food we had at Sleeping Giant might have been our favorite!!

I ordered the fried chicken burrito and my wife ordered the habanero chicken. My burrito was incredible. Served in a large, fresh tortilla, the best word I can use to describe it was “flavorful.” The chicken was delicious and all the ingredients simply meshed perfectly with each other to deliver a taste that I already miss so much. As a major burrito connoisseur, I hope my words carry some weight with you. My wife felt the same way that I did, as she raved about her dish and the overall quality of the food. I took a bite of her chicken and it was next level too.

Prices are average. I think my burrito was $14. Sleeping Giant Café is an extremely small space with no indoor seating. There are a handful of tables outside the café. We lucked out and got to sit down right as another couple left. The person who took our order at the front counter was nice and helpful. If you are looking for a delicious and quick bite, Sleeping Giant...
