We have come here for many years. The location is beautiful and the music is nice since it's outside and you can still carry on a conversation. The food has always been good. But if customers don't let the resterant know they can't change things.
We have to say tonight was very disappointing. The hostess was great. We ordered drinks and then were given menus. The server asked what we wanted. We ordered the sizzling shrimp and garlic bread. And asked to keep one of the menus so we could decide on the main meal. She said no and took them both away! We said we want to look at it! She said no the wind might blow it away and walked off! Really? That started us off not happy! I think she thought these two 70 year olds were going to steal her menus! Shaking our heads out Appetizer of shrimp came out within 2 minutes of placing our order which seemed odd. They call it sizzling which as a foodie means to me it has a bit of char for flavor. It did not. It came in a nice little cast iron pan and it was in a rapid boiling juice, clearly premade and in ovens. So needless to say the shrimp were boiled and over cooked. The juice, not a sauce, had no flavor what so ever. I searched for garlic or herbs which the say it has, but here was none. The garlic bread was equally as plain and soggy from sitting on top of the boiling juice. We are a few each but since it had no flavor we quit eating it. The server came over and asked what we wanted to dinner and we changed our minds (no menu given back) and would like the check. We told her the appetizer was not up to their normal standards, she offered to bring us something else but we were over it by now. The manager came over and asked about the shrimp, but he thought since we ate some of it there was no credit given. There wasn't much given in the pan and yes we ate the small 2 slices of bread. That's normally what people do at a restaurant. Anyway, when you frequently go to a restaurant and you have a odd experience people should know and not hesitate to do a review. The food has gotten expensive which is fine, but the quality of food and service needs to...
Read moreSo maybe we are grumpy travelers after being in Kauai over a week. But I so rarely leave reviews this low as I always like to find the good in businesses.
SERVICE: I think we got a server that just wasn’t feeling it. Didn’t check on us after our food came out. Forgot to bring condiments we asked for with the original order. We asked the manager who came by and also forgot? Kinda weird to not serve ketchup with 2 orders of cheeseburgers.
The second drink just didn’t come for a while. We furnished dinner and it still didn’t make it out so I canceled. They said it was just backed up. Okay, no problem but then forgot to take it off the bill.
Just one of our worse experiences when it comes to service. Like trying to be very polite and not “those types of people” but certainly didn’t feel taken care of.
FOOD: My daughter liked the side of fried rice. Very content.
My son liked his cheeseburger. I liked my cheeseburger.
My son’s fries weren’t even cooked through. Like still cold and hard and raw. Bleh!
The pineapple fried rice was fairly bland and very small portion even though it is presented beautifully.
Salad was good with chicken.
The ribs were the best out of everything we ordered. Lots of meat and they were fairly soft.
So for $200 after a 20% tip with 1 drink. You tell me.
Atmosphere was pretty great right up on the water!
Parking was quite silly but such is life.
Yeah; I realize I sound like one of those grumpy reviewers so I hope you have a better...

Lava Lava Beach Club restaurant in Kauai.
A year ago, we had such an amazing visit. Food was great, staff was amazing. Everything was wonderful, we could not wait to go back during our annual visit to Kauai.
Our opinion has soured.
To the manager on duty the night of 6/19/24, you should be ashamed of yourself. Instead of taking care of your guests, by maybe putting the awning out or offering to move us to another table, when there was a sudden down pour of rain, you instead yelled at your guests about moving tables and told us “rain happens”. For the amount of money we are spending at your restaurant we don’t want soggy food. We were a party of seven, that’s a big bill. Your waitstaff looked horrified at your behavior. Guests at other tables were appalled and told us so. You have no place in management! There were several ways this situation could have been handled, and you handled it poorly. If “rain happens” you should have a plan for it. I feel bad for your employees. If you can treat guests so badly, I’d hate to see how you treat them.
I would also like to mention there was aluminum foil or metal shavings of some sort in four of our drinks. If anyone in our party has medical issues from that, you will be hearing from us again.
We will be sharing this with all of our friends and family. Some of who live in Hawaii. As well as every...
