Was here for drinks and the sunset on Friday, May 10th, 2024. Before coming to Key West I had done a lot of research about this place, thankfully it lived up to my expectations. It was very busy while we were here, no longer is this place a hidden gem. One thing I will add, as I did NOT know this until showing up at the bar, but all those waterside lounge chairs are NOT for someone off the street like I was but are only for guests staying at the Galleon Resort, which in turn means not much seating for non-guests. Thankfully we found and borrowed two chairs from a table to at least sit in, as the people at that table only needed two of those four chairs. Though very busy, bartenders and service were overall great. I do highly recommend this place for drinks and a sunset! Great location!! Thank you, Sunset Bar & Grill. Oh, and be sure to walk the boardwalk which is close to the Sunset Bar & Grill. You will enjoy walking past the two dozen or more great outdoor restaurants/bars in that waterfront area of...
Read moreThe problem here is two fold: 1. The restaurant advertises that they offer food (they do not offer any food at all). The staff said they stopped serving food after hurricane Irma. If that's the case, they need to put out accurate info in at least their name (bar and... Grill?). 2. The hotel within which they exist is over bearing about their space to non hotel guests. My wife and I were told, as we sat at the waters edge of their dock, with our first round of drinks, "your not allowed to sit on the ground in their dock, and not allowed to touch the ropes of the edge of the dock, and not allowed to sit on the furniture". We quickly cashed out, took our drinks, and gladly delt out over $60 to another nearby establishment that earned our business. Cheers.
Update to review, hurricane Irma was in 2017. Sunset Bar and Grill, you have had over 3 years to update your information about the fact that you do not serve food any longer! Tighten up and read your other negative (and similarly...
Read moreIf you want to relax with a couple drinks along the water, this is a really great place. But it's not perfect.
The frozen cocktails are like dessert, which I'm absolutely here for. They were delicious and well made. I don't remember specifically how much they cost, but I don't remember being outraged, especially for Key West.
I do have two complaints though. One, there's no food. I'm of the opinion everywhere that serves alcohol should serve some kind of food, even if it's just french fries or chips or something. Second, there were half a dozen people smoking on and off while we were there. I assume it must be legal... but I'm not a fan and it definitely hampered the experience for...
