This hotel is one of the worst experiences of the last few years. The first room had so much mold and mildew that it was unusable. Under threats we were given another room in the house next door, also here a mold smell, but now 2 floors with dirty carpeting. The complex is worn out and poorly maintained. The rooms facing the canal are very noisy, you can hear not only the airport but also the street day and night. The hotel is not really a hotel, but merely a house rental. There is no real restaurant, just an open bar where everything takes place. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and bar with the worst drinks from a post-mix facility. The staff (an Asian woman) wears short leggings. It's like a bad joke. The food is on the level of a fast food restaurant. When asked how they could claim it was a 4-star hotel, the staff tell you they don't know either. And it gets even better: be sure to check all bills, a valet service is charged even if you haven't parked a car there. They deliberately lied and even signed a note saying that you had parked there. And wild additional costs are charged that are not included in the reservation. Every item must be checked. There is no gym, but two treadmills and a stepper. The business center is a chair with a computer and a printer. The showers are rotten and the bathroom fixtures are rusty. No room service on the second day. Again, you have to complain until something happens because the phone in the room doesn't work either. The carpet is never vacuumed but swept - like in a developing country. The music at the pools is so loud you can't have a conversation. The chlorine content turned my wife's swimsuit reddish (which is why they waived the service tax). The concierge at the entrance is a bored man who wants to rent out jet skis and other nonsense but has nothing to do with the hotel. The shuttle bus has pointless departure times and can no longer be used after 16:30. All in all, an absolute disaster and not to be recommended. And I've traveled extensively and stayed in hundreds of hotels worldwide, but I've never experienced anything like this - at least not for such a high price and the supposed stars and the marketing blabla on their website. You cannot recommend this place and you will only be cheated. We can't take the good reviews seriously.

Likes: Location is great, away from the hussle and bussle. My family and I arrived from the airport around noon and they were able to check us in early. The service by the pool was outstanding and quick, although the food was mediocre (pizza sauce was actually thick tomato paste). I dropped my bracelet down the sink drain and the maintenance team was able to come retrieve it immediately. Dislikes: I read other reviews but I wanted to give them a chance anyway. Room service was horrible - the 1st day I called before we headed out to ensure at least the trash and towels were taken care of. The 2nd day I called again, they ensured me they always do room service. By 4pm, our room was still not clean and we were not able to take showers with clean towels for our dinner reservations after spending the day at the pool. I called the front desk again and she asked if I wanted them to send someone now... ummm yes! An hour later, still no one. They ended up arriving around 730pm. They were supposed to provide 2 bottles of water per day, we only got 2 new bottles on the 3rd day. Room: great view and spacious, although it was not on a beach, there was a hedge between sand and water. We had the 2 bedroom waterfront suite and the entire upstairs smelled of mildew. There was no table for you to sit at and eat, not even a desk. There were no q tips, cotton balls, etc available in the bathrooms. There were scratches, scuffs and stains on the furniture and carpet throughout the villa. The glass shower door had not been cleaned in weeks/months. The drain stopper in the bathroom could only be a stopper, you had to pull the entire thing out for the water to drain, which is how I lost my bracelet in the drain. There was a small wet bar with a small sink. However, there was no soap or sponge/dish towel to clean the only 2 glasses you are provided to drink out of. Some of the towels were extremely rough, low quality. Only 1 robe was provided in one room. For the price spent on this 2 bedroom villa and being rated a 4 star hotel ($1100 per night), I would not recommend staying here nor will I return in the future.

We recently stayed at the Parrot Key Hotel & Villas in Key West, Florida and I have to say it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was excellent. The staff was welcoming and friendly, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The property itself is absolutely stunning. The lush tropical gardens and palm trees set the perfect backdrop for the 4 pools, each with its own unique charm. We especially enjoyed the adults-only pool, where we could relax and soak up the sun in peace. The suite was spacious and well decorated, with comfortable beds that ensured a exceptional night's sleep. The views from our suite were breathtaking, overlooking the lush gardens and the Gulf of Mexico on one balcony with the other balcony overlooking the centre of the resort including the pool areas. Despite the peaceful setting, the hotel is conveniently located close to downtown Key West, making it easy to explore all that this charming city has to offer. Whether we were walking along the bustling Duval Street or enjoying the sunset celebrations at Mallory Square, we knew we were a quick shuttle or Uber away from the resort. Overall, I would highly recommend the Parrot Key Hotel & Villas to anyone looking for a luxurious and comfortable stay in Key West. The beautiful property, excellent customer service, and convenient location make it the perfect choice for a getaway. We were originally supposed to stay only one-night (silly planning) but quickly decided on a second night and then a third night as well. This is a place you won't want to leave. TIP - Book the complimentary shuttle to go into the downtown. We booked early in the day every day for the 430 shuttle, the last one of the day, to get to Mallory Square in time for sunset celebrations. Uber is also a good alternative, which we used to get back at night, cost around $10-15 USD one way. If you like to stretch your legs a bit, you can even walk into the downtown core which is about 2-miles. We chose to walk back one evening around 7pm and felt completely safe doing so.

4.5 Stars -- Pleasantly surprised with Parrot Key! PROS: + Very friendly and welcoming staff (valet, at check-in, and at the restaurant) + Clean and spacious hotel room feels like you're walking into your own villa with a private balcony and garden view + Three pools to choose from with towel service + Beautiful resort-style heated pool enclosed by lush landscaping, peaceful vibe, and private surroundings + Restaurant and bar with outdoor seating near one of the pool areas, offering delicious breakfast options + Shuttle service to/from downtown Key West area and Beach Club + Other services available upon request + Located in a less crowded area + Walgreens located next door + Valet staff is very attentive + Great value for the price CONS: - Room 59A had a loud buzzing sound coming from the A/C closet, which vibrated the floor and bed in the middle of the night. It was difficult to fall asleep as it kept coming on/off intermittently - Rooms are dark and plain, which is not a big issue, since we spent little time there, but worth noting if you care about aesthetics - Would love a self-parking option Parrot Key is located about 10 minutes from Duval Street (20-something with traffic). This is something to keep in mind if you're looking to time your commute to arrive at your tours/restaurants/sunset at a specific hour. I recommend getting up early for a morning swim, as it was one of the most relaxing and pleasant experiences we enjoyed in the hotel. The pool area is lovely, clean, and almost feels like a mini forest oasis in the Keys. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with our experience.

Be prepared to bunk with bugs and dine-in your room with roaches. Front desk is hit or miss with customer service, most have been rude. Oh, and if you’re not white they won’t offer you complimentary refreshments while checking in. I caught one of these flying bugs crawling thankfully on my face and not my 10 month old’s while she napped right beside me. Water pressure was off in the new room we were switched into after calling to complain about dead and live bugs all over the bed, pillow cases, and phone in the first room. My husband was showering with my baby and 9 year old and housekeeping kept trying to walk into the bathroom. This was despite not only hearing them in there, but me stating that the bathroom was occupied and I even brought over the trash can to them. Just a weird encounter because she could almost clearly see my husband and son naked. A roach also crawled all over my son’s dinner tonight. I am utterly disgusted and no manager is available until 8am tomorrow as it is currently 9pm. Curious to know what resolution will come out of this as I now have to figure out dinner for my 9 year old. I am disappointed as this isn’t a cheap stay. We are booked 4 days and it is currently only our second night here. I’m ready for it to be over, we should’ve booked with Marriott. Anywhere but here. Never again, also, if you have small children or infants, reconsider staying elsewhere. There are two sets of stairs within the villa as it has three floors total. Unless you bring your own baby gates, it might not be safe for your family.

This place is a joke. Beware of all hidden charges. After checking in, you find you have 42.00 per day resort fee and 24.00 per day parking. Resort fees are a joke. 2 bottles of water, free sunscreen at pool, and a ride to a beach. And complimentary towels, wifi, and don't forget the automatic additional 20% charge on your meal or drink ticket regardless if you get good service or not. Oh yeah, complimentary watered down juice behind the checkout counter. Lol. A concierre that can't get you booked into a restaurant of your choice. And the tree trimmers right outside our patio at 8 am, trimming trees. GASOLINE smelled so bad that we had to get off our porch to go inside and drink our coffee. No help from Ashley, the front desk manager. She was rude, talked over the top of me, and then told me I could come to the front desk and talk to her. Only after she kept me on hold for 23 minutes then rudly hung up. Nothing was resolved after we showed them we had already paid 217.00 in these and fees. And showed the web site showed 1 resort charge for only 38.00 total. This place advertised water front. It's a lie. It's got a canal with brushes in front. 2nd story suite for a fortune more you can see a bay but no excess to chairs below. Don't let pictures deceive you. September is their slowest month but still charges prem price. We moved to the Hamptons on Key West, half the price. OCEAN front. Great accommodations. Stay anywhere in Key West, but the Parrot Key!
