I went the day before yesterday by myself while visiting the Keys for the first time. The food was good and greeter, servers, and all were excellent. So, yesterday, my daughter was hungry. Since my family was visiting at the beach nearby, I took her for lunch based on my previous days' good experience. We were seated at a table for 6. Eventually, the rest of my family migrated over toward the restaurant, three are disabled. My uncle was having trouble walking and I guess they decided they wanted to sit down, eat and drink with us. The day previous, I saw a lady using a gate off the patio, so I went to open it so he wouldn't have to struggle all the way around to the frint, nor would the other two disabled people in our group. One of the wait staff immediately came over and jumped down my throat. When I explained to him that my uncle was having trouble walking, and I was just trying to get him a seat, he backed off and became decent again, but didn't bother to start out that way until he found out I was trying to help somebody with ADA needs. We didn't dare let my disabled aunt or grandmother in, we made them struggle all the way around as to not disturb the gate. A short time later, the greeter person that seated us originally came back to our table and rudely stated and made a scene that he thought there was only going to be 2 of us (me and my daughter, who were eating our appetizer). He asked, how many more people are coming and being that I did not know if all of my family was going to trickle in or if it was only going to be a couple of them, I told him I did not know, but we were at a table for 6 with only 2 of us, and so he wanted to move us to another table to accommodate more people, and since we had room for 4 more at our table, we would possibly just need one additional four person table, if my entire family showed up. There was plenty of open tables. But he was very rude and demanding wanting to know how many more people were coming, and seemed almost offended or put out that they would be selling more food and drinks to my additional people that were coming. Extremely rude. Finally, a woman came up, not our original waitress, and rudely announced that there's only one check per table and they aren't doing separate checks, which we never insinuated or requested. A couple of us didn't order our food or drinks. I won't return or recommend this spot. Pretty crazy that one crew on Friday was so exceptional and the next day, at least 3 were definitely not. I wouldn't have brought my business here two days in a row, much less brought 9 more paying customers with me. The food was decent, but not exceptional for this type...
Read moreWe had dinner at a restaurant downtown the night prior to dining at Salute. We asked the waitstaff who in the city had the BEST key lime pie. She spoke highly of Blue Heaven. I called them to see if they were open and was advised they were on vacation. The person on the phone advised we could check out their other restaurant Salute on the Beach
To our surprise this restaurant was in very close proximity to the hotel we were staying at. The restaurant is located on Higgs Beach. There is ample parking available in front of and to the rear of the restaurant.
The host stand is located outside . We are not accustomed to the Key's heat so we opted to dine inside. However, I would highly recommend sitting outside and enjoying the view of the beach.
All of the staff were friendly and simply a good time. It appears that everyone just helps out where needed.
They had a regular menu as well as a printed sheet with all of the specials. I ordered the tuna stuffed avocado. My guy had the snapper entree. The food came out fairly quickly, but did appear to be fresh. I really enjoyed the stuffed avocado it was light but filling. I tried the snapper. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Now for the main event: the Key Line pie!! Oh my! The presentation is amazing! The meringue on this pie is out of this works massive!! It is torched on the top to give it a little color, and some additional flavor. Let me tell you- the pie was fantastic. My guy does not even care for key lime pie but he gladly helped me eat this slice. We cleaned the plate!!
This is a great place to dine at while in Key West. I love it because it's not downtown, they have free parking, and the food and service are...
Read moreTwo days in a row we tried to go here and enjoy a meal. Both times we were treated like naughty school children simply trying to get a table. The first night we requested an outside table because 80% of the patio was empty, but were told no because we didn’t have a reservation. After being seated we heard the manager ask the hostess why she wasn’t seating the patio. We asked to move but they told us no because we had already been seated. The second day we arrived at 3:30 and were seated after being made to wait for 15 minutes even though the entire restaurant was empty. We were seated at 3:45 and didn’t get greeted by a server until 4:10. At that point she told us that we could no longer order from the lunch menu which ended at 4. We pleaded that we’ve literally been here trying to buy lunch since 3:30. The waitress immediately acted like we were attacking her and stormed off to get a manager. The manager never came and we left. I don’t understand treating customers this way and can only suspect this is a management problem. When the entire staff finds it normal to treat customers as a burden, there is a fundamental problem. During our first visit the food was ok, but not something to write home about. We operate a restaurant of our own, and I’m not one to leave negative reviews but enough is enough. We tried twice to be patrons to your restaurant and we almost literally pushed out by your staff and management. Very...
