Completely unhospitable worst experience when going to a shop ever!
Response to the Owner, Hau (hello in Lakȟótiyapi), First off crying to someone's Iná (mom as you call it in English) instead of directly addressing them first is not adult like, second off age has nothing to do with this, third off just because my family had a different experience doesn't mean mine is wrong, fourth off we came in at 8:40, 20 minutes before 9:00 which you claimed, and an hour and 20 minutes before closing time, although I'll admit my initial design was complex, none of what the front desk lady said made sense for it, she stated it must be nearly quadruple the size it was on the screen of my phone, which double I could see but the size she had said would be outrageous for that tattoo, and then to add on the other design I brought was one anything but complex, a kindergarten kid could've drawn it, colored in the lines, perhaps not, but, drawn it, with ease, and two was maybe a 30 minute tattoo, considering I have a tattoo that is the size of both my Iná and sisters combined that took only 15 minutes and is one of the better tattoos I've seen, and that tattoo is much more complex than the second design, and my Iná and sister were done after only 10 minutes each, it was around 9:05 when they were done, and we left around 9:08, mind you ya'll close at 10:00, fifth off the artist for my sister was shown the design by the front desk lady and said no, BUT the artist for my Iná asked to see it, in a tone giving off the I might be able to do it vibe, and the front desk lady abruptly ignored her despite being right next to her, sixth off the front desk lady did not give me reasonable modifications to the design nor did she go and draw on paper or computer a easier version of the original second design, instead she said well we can't do this, this, and this, which for the design it was really pretty simple, especially compared to my sister's design, and then she again said it must change size, this time smaller, and I said well instead of my shin, we could do my wrist, and she just said no, mind you I was calm, but also adamant that the structure at least was kept the same, she came off as rude, snarky, and frankly it was almost like she just didn't like my design, and both the designs I showed I was extremely excited to get for quite sometime now, while I'll admit the first was extremely complex and honestly not all that upset she rejected it, the second was a star from a Lakȟóta star blanket, and as an Oglála Lakȟóta (if you're uninformed it's an Indigenous American tribe) that's very special to me, I would've been fine with it smaller like she had said, so long as the structure was the same, she asked if I wanted the color, I said I was fine with or without it, she asked me to take away some of the "geometrics" (smaller stars inside the star), I said some but I would like to keep the structure, she basically wanted to change the whole tattoo, rather than just accept that it was a simple 30 minute tattoo, and you said reschedule, reschedule when? When? When? When? Flight leaves very next morning before ya'll even open and yet you want to reschedule, because that works, works for who though? Oh that's right, the shop, but not the consumer, you also stated that my Iná and sister both wanted me to work with the front desk lady, which might have grounds but it was not said aloud, therefore the claim that they told me to work with the ladies is false, and most every shop allows you to speak with an ARTIST, not a clerk, to create a design, that did not happen, now my final thing is based on your responses to others it seems you don't do well with criticism, and you seem like an angry person, so I'd respectfully ask that you respond with thought instead of rushing to answer, I have had 2 days now to think over this and still don't see where exactly I was wrong for being upset about this in the slightest. Have a wonderful day, and please be kind to your customers even if they criticize you when you're wrong. Wópila tȟaŋka...
Read moreComplete scam artists. First off, the artist made a tattoo noticeably larger than what was asked for, and provided no price estimate whatsoever before moving forward., or contract prior to the work. That alone is the definition of a scam artist. Was clearly overcharged $540 for an hour and a half of work, for a tattoo that should’ve been no more than $300, (I also compared this to several tattoos on this site with the same size/detail that were priced in the $300-$350 range) .The person at this shop completely refused to give a receipt of the work, even after asking for a receipt, and later demanding one. I called back after this shop refused to provide me a receipt, and also demanded they remove the absurd tip I didn’t agree to or sign, after overcharging us $200, and the person at the desk stated “good luck getting your receipt” and hung up on me, Since these scam artists decided not to handle this appropriately and do the right thing,, not to mention just ruined our entire vacation over this, I will make sure to respond in kind so this doesn’t happen to others in the future. Avoid this shop at all costs and do not use a business that will not provide a cost estimate or receipt, and overcharges you several hundred dollars for similar work. Also, do not use a shop that allows people to be completely drunk before doing work on them. I witnessed this shop not only agreeing to do work on people that were completely wasted, but allowed them to continue drinking in the shop before getting work done. Unbelievable.Thank you for taking advantage of us and overcharging us atleast $200.
RESPONSE TO OWNER'S COMMENT BELOW- Neither myself, or the person who had the tattoo, received a receipt, and that is a fact. I have proof of this, as neither of us HAVE A RECEIPT, or were given one. Your company also refused to provide a written estimate or even a verbal one, before the procedure. That is a fact. If you listened to the actual rrcordings of the phone conversations, assuming they weren't deleted, which you were not a part of, you are well aware of what the person at the front desk stated, regarding refusal to issue a receipt. That person is well aware of what he stated on the phone, regardless if it was delleted by him or by you. The drunk customers were right after us, and can confirm one of them fell over against the wall, and they continued to be allowed to stay, and brought in multiple bottles of wine they opened and drank in your store, and were trying to get others to drink, including myself, and the front desk person had no issues with this whatsoever, and this was the same rude jerk who refused to issue a recept and hung up on me. I'm sure you can figure that person out, Atleast four other people were presnt there to witness this, (not the drunk customers) and you were not one of them. I advise you to get some better voice recorders and camera footage, since you are denying all of this took place, when you weren't even there. You can find the prices people paid for their tattoos directly under their reviews, including an exact replica of the same rooster that was done for under $350.00. That's $200 less than what we were charged. I also did not agree to a $100 tip on MY CREDIT CARD, after ripping us off, sorry. We were both in complete shock at this absurd price and weren't exactly going to walk out and not pay, as we're law abiding citizens. Since you're still refusing to take responsibility for this, and are outright LYING, to save face on a Google review, you can take it up with the agencies I am rmaking complaints to. I will not stop with the complaints, until $200 is returned that was ripped off from my credit card. Make sure in the future you have your tattoo artists give actual estimates to customers before work is done, have it in writing, and quote the same price you charge others for the same exact work. A receipt is expected as well, to prove the work was worth the price. I already have proof it wasn't, and I will be submitting this all in...
Read moreI will first off start by saying that this place definitely knows what they are doing and special thanks to James, my artist, and Mia, my fiancée artist. Both my fiancée and myself got tattoos located on our forarms. We told both of our artists what our ideas were, which they both made come true and even better than expected. My fiancée got a wrap around vine with flowers and a dragon fly, which had a lot of fine line details to it. As for myself, I got an anchor, compass, ink jar, and feather pencil, with a natical map background. That had a lot of shading to it. During both of our tattoo experiences, it was simple, easy, and very laid back. I talked with my artists during my experience while my fiancée listened to music. Both of our tattoos took more than a couple of hours, mine being a little over 4 while my fiancée being a little over 3. After the artwork was done, both artists were more than willing to take photos/ videos of our new tattoos. They will then wrap the area and explain in good detail what steps should be done for tattoo care and provided a card that explained the different steps to take. While also explaining that if we have any further questions to feel free to contact them and that they would be more than happy to answer them. The cost is, I would say real. This means that to some, it may be on the expensive side. However, I reminded myself that I am in Key West and that this tattoo will be on my body forever. So, of course, I will pay a little more for a better tattoo as well as a cool experience. My fiancée was around $500, and mine was around $800. After the whole experience, I would definitely recommend Southermost Tattoo to anyone looking to get a tattoo. I know that I will be back to start on my next...
