So I come to Google review because emailing GameStop for both my complaint (which I will not add to this 5 star review) and my praise was not working. I tried to give this following praise about Bernard who works at the Killingly GameStop but continued to get the very same robo-response. So obviously a real person does not handle the customer service emails for GameStop.
Here is my thoughts about Bernard (GameStop Managers...you should probably give him a holiday bonus or a raise...seriously, he is so very helpful beyond anything)
This is my original email from 10/28/24:
I received my order today for my son and when we opened the box, the ps4 was completely filthy, the controller looked like it was so worn out that it shouldn’t have even been resold and there was so much dirt and grim in it, we had use a toothpick to clean all the crevices to even want to use it. The usb cord was also crushed so much that it wouldn’t fit in the controller to charge it. Which I also found out later (with Bernard) the controller didn’t even work properly right out of the box. I honestly felt like it was just purchased from a neighbor up the street who couldn’t care less about the quality of what they are selling me. Whoever “cleaned” and boxed this product should really be retrained on how to properly do this. I ordered the ps4 from GameStop because I trust the quality and warranty of the products you sell. I was very disappointed with what was sold to me. I am unsure if it can be figured out who packed this product but if you are aware, you can let them know that this part of the review is specifically for them. The name of the person was not written on the sticker or box to even know who "cleaned" the machine.
When I called GS customer service to get a new USB cord and discuss the quality, they said I would need to return the entire system just for a usb cable. I thought this was ridiculous but they told me there was a replacement at a local store (after telling me first that the store didn’t have it in stock) However, I figured I would call first.
When I called my local store (Killingly, CT) and spoke with Bernard. They did not, in fact, have a replacement product but he was still very helpful. I want to let whoever needs to know that he deserves something special. He should be celebrated for sure. He was a nice guy and very kind. Bernard apologized for the condition of my system and told me that if I wanted to that I could bring it in and he would thoroughly clean it for me. I ended up bringing the whole system in and he replaced the controller because it wasn’t working properly and was very warn, replaced the broken usb cord and cleaned the whole machine. He also mentioned that there was a missing piece on the back that covers the motherboard (I think that’s what he said) but said that it shouldn’t affect the ps4. I was grateful for Bernard being there and being so helpful. He also had said that normally the person who cleaned the equipment writes their name on the box’s sticker but (of course) there was no name written on the sticker or box. He even suggested some helpful tips for my daughter’s Nintendo Switch console. Please make sure that someone acknowledges him in the...
Read morePlaced a new game on hold and got an email confirmation it was ready for pickup. I drove 45 minutes to my closest Gamestop to pick it up (hence putting it on hold) only to be sold a used copy falsely marked as "New". The box was not sealed, the pamphlet inside was crinkled from someone folding it multiple times, and both the tin case and CD were scratched. There was even sticker residue on the outside sleeve where the used sticker was placed and peeled off. I immediately brought the game back inside and confronted the "Manager" who said the game was indeed new and the damage to the pamphlet inside the tin case caused by the cabinet. Upon showing him the scratches on the CD and case he began backpedaling.. "oh, uh, hmm... I don't know how that happened..." he offered to switch the disk with a standard copy. When I asked for a new sealed copy he said there weren't anymore in stock (another lie). This is unacceptably wrong. This company promotes selling used items as new and will go out of its way to steal the customer's money. I went to Best Buy and they not only price matched Gamestop but sold me a SEALED NEW copy of the game. Do yourself a favor and go...
Read moreI have been to GameStop 3 times in the past month trying to trade in a Xbox One Console. The first time I waited in line for almost 1 hour and then when I got up to the register they told me it takes to long to trade a console and that “we close in a hour so you will have to come back.
The next time I went to game stop I called ahead of time to MAKE SURE everything is ok and they said it was. When I went to the GameStop at 5pm I was told that they didn’t have enough cash in the register to trade in a single video game console in a GAMESTOP.
And today I called again trying to make sure I don’t waste my time again driving all the way there and I called again and they told me today that they still don’t have enough money to trade in my console and they best part was they don’t know when they will have enough money either
Worst GameStop in New England. Closing the Putnam GameStop was a mistake compared to what they left us with.
If you have the option to go to GameStop don’t go to the one in killingly. Honestly take the long car ride and go to the one in Sturbridge it will honestly probably save you time...
