Stood for an hour and a half in the rain first in line at the front door to get into the venue with my wife and two kids. 15 minutes before opening they roll out a sign about Line Leap and start a separate line right next to me. I asked the person who put out the sign and they let me know that lane leap goes first. Apparently they put out a social media notice about it that morning. So, I downloaded the app, paid another $40 for the tickets to keep my spot right in front since it was one of my kids first concerts. In the time it took me to get the tickets, a bunch of people who already got the tickets were lining up. The two Karen's in front who got there two minutes ago started throwing a fit that they were there first, even though they arrived right as they were rolling out the new line. Nobody else in line cared. I asked the security guard with the silly contact lenses and he said that he never saw me in line and I wasn’t going to go inside if I didn’t move.
There was no communication that there was going to be a line skip, no indication until shortly before the venue opened despite the line stretching down the road.
The bands were great, that got the two stars. Venue management needs to learn about customer service and not have their third party security threaten to throw someone that bought four tickets and an extra $40 on top. Put a printed out piece of paper on the door we stood in front of for 90 minutes. Maybe when ten people are in line drag your sign out. Don’t do it when the line is already down the block and you’re getting...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I came up to Lansing to see Twin Temple on Saturday. I don't think either of us had ever been to Lansing before? But it was lovely. It looks like the venue had maybe been recently renovated? Or possibly just re-opened? I did want to say though, I overheard a girl in the audience complain about the music that was playing before TT came on and said she was going to complain to management? Which is wild if you ask me. Also if she's a TT fan, she would know what some of Alex's biggest influences are the country greats (Loretta Dolly etc), as she's said so in interviews, and you can also hear it in the music as well. The point is, if she DID end up complaining, not only does she not know the band she was about to watch, she also doesn't understand that venues play the music in between sets that the band picks. And more importantly, the staff was so so sweet. The security guys, as well as the guy checking tickets and the girl doing reentry. And unlike most venues we go to, the bathrooms were very clean! Point is, if she DID complain, it was rude and unnecessary. Hopefully we have a reason to come up to Lansing again sometime... thanks for hosting our favorite band and giving us a great space to...
Read moreOpening a new business is hard. But as a professional touring musician, I’ve seen it time and time again: a venue opens in an up and coming neighborhood - and then 10 years later, the area is completely revitalized.
Downtown Lansing has been is desperate need of development and this is a huge step. If I had the money, I’d be buying a building down here. If this venue succeeds, which I imagine it will, downtown is going to be much different place in the coming years.
Got to check the venue out (my band is playing here on NYE). It’s gorgeous. DB T8 line arrays (aka it’s going to sound excellent across many different genres, from folks bands to festival bass music DJs. The room is spacious and is well lit from the front. Big open bar and it’s easy to get around. The balcony floor will perfect for those with mobility issues. But yeah, the folks behind this project are all veteran live music industry pros - and there couldn’t be a better team behind the venue.
Gonna be a great place...
