Dollar Tree — Attraction in Layton

I love the Dollar Tree. Unfortunately I will no longer be going to this location. The store manager treated me very unkindly and wrongly accused me of shoplifting.

I walked into the Layton Dollar Tree a couple weeks ago with about 5 little dress up skirts that I needed to exchange. Because my two-year-old was with me we went right for the Halloween stuff at the front of the store on the right. I held the skirts under one arm and picked out about 15 or so cute little Halloween things quickly. When I walked up to the register I let the cashier know that the five skirts were an exchange, I bought about 20 for my daughter's birthday party and we didn't use the five. They were still in their packaging, in perfect condition.

She let me know that I cannot do an exchange without a receipt, but then went on to say that if she had seen me walk in with them then she would let me do an exchange. I explained that I had stayed in the front of the store and I didn't realize that. and I reassured her that I did purchase them quite a while ago. (If she had taken a look at them she would have realized that the packaging was different from the packaging on the new skirts in stock.) But for some reason she did not believe me, she quickly rang up all of my Halloween items. And she told me that she could not do the exchange.

I was very frustrated and mostly just shocked that she would assume this about me. I did not exhibit any of the behaviors of someone who would shoplift. and also, why in the world would I shoplift to save $5 when I was spending so much more than that?

When I asked to see her manager, she informed me that she was the manager and would not give me anyone else's information. At this point I was beginning to become angry. I let her know that was very unkind to imply that I had stolen the items. I was so embarrassed and upset, I left the items at the register and let her know that I would not be returning to this location.

I took the same 5 skirts to another Dollar Tree location and they politley exchanged them without any questions.

I completely understand that shoplifting happens. And I do respect her attempt to guard against theft. However, if she was suspicious of me, all she had to say was that she needed a receipt in order to do the exchange. There is no need to imply that she thought I had shoplifted. It is concerning to think she is teaching other employees how to treat customers. I am so grateful there are other locations in my area, because I will not risk being treated...

I was in dollar tree tonight to pick up a couple of things. As I was walking towards the cash register down one of the isles I just happen to look underneath some of the racks that were towards the front of the store absolutely filthy. Stuff underneath the racks dirt hairballs You name it. Then I just looked around the floor is absolutely filthy in this Layton Utah store. I mentioned it to the sales lady and she looked at me like I was stupid… She says well yes we know about it. And then I said what are you doing about it here she says well we mop every day and I said evidently they don’t. Because I will come back here tomorrow and I guarantee you those same spots are still there. Even the racks that the items are on or just like dirty… Filthy beyond dirty… Take a look at these pictures - You might need to zoom in. They need to close this store for three days at least… And do a deep cleaning of the store. Is it because they think the majority of the people who shop here are poor people and they don’t care about decent cleanliness? Is that the problem dollar tree? And they actually sell food items in the store… It looks to me that all they do is throw —— on the rack or the shelves. They don’t do anything as far as like cleaning the floor running a dust mop underneath the rack I bet you will pull out...

Ok a lady asked me do these leaves look like fall? My replie was to brown. White 🤍 leaves pure in heart maybe or a wedding 💒💍. I just felt like writing about the leaves she was holding them with a smile and beautiful hair amazing like an angel from heaven on her wedding Day as the wind blew the white leaves all around the angels 😇 above began throwing them down with joy and happiness all around the lady replied to the man coming down from the heavens do these leaves look like fall no replied the man above with the marks on his hands and feet I would never have sent you blessings in brown with a heart ❤️ as pure as snow flakes my love for you and your groom to be is the most pure gift of all eternity 💗 together as one to watch the snow flakes fall as you journey together and get old and meet once more in the heavens above to dance with all the angels above in joy and happiness as I hug both of you welcome you home to me once more ❤️.
