Layton Commons Park is such a fantastic spot for families and nature lovers alike. The playground here is absolutely top-notch—kids can spend hours climbing, swinging, and sliding on the equipment. It’s one of those parks where the whole family can have a great time. That said, I have to admit I was a little sad to see they took out the infamous “death spin” ride. It might not have been the safest, but it was definitely one of the most memorable features. Losing that was a bit of a bummer because it was so much fun (and a little thrilling)!
What really sets Layton Commons Park apart, though, is how great it is for birdwatching. The ponds scattered throughout the park are alive with activity, especially from the ducks. Watching them paddle around or waddle up to the shore adds a fun and relaxing vibe to any visit. If you’re lucky, you might spot other birds, too, like geese or the occasional heron. It’s such a peaceful spot to connect with nature, whether you’re out for a walk or just sitting by the water.
The park itself is beautiful, with plenty of open green spaces, shaded picnic areas, and walking paths that wind around the ponds and through the trees. It’s perfect for a casual stroll, a family outing, or even just some quiet time to relax. The combination of a great playground, active birdlife, and serene surroundings makes this park a real gem in Layton.
Even without the “death spin,” Layton Commons Park remains one of my favorite spots. Between the fantastic playground, the ducks, and the peaceful atmosphere, it’s always worth a visit. Highly recommended for families, birdwatchers, and anyone who just loves spending...
Read moreSOOO Many Pokestops!!! Lol Trails galore, a winding creek to follow through blooming trees, ducks EVERYWHERE (I mean EVERYWHERE Lol ...balled up laying around by bushes and under trees sleeping, but looking dead! hahaha So don't be fooled and approach unless you like being chased). That also means duck poop, and a LOT OF IT because people LOVE to keep these ducks fat by bringing loads of bread to feed them. They expect it and are NOT afraid of people and hunting them down for snacks! The Seagulls are there too, to swoop and snatch your bag of whatever food you sit beside you. I can't lie though, it's pretty entertaining watching them fly off with a bag of someone's McDonald's and then land to pick it open and eat fries with their beaks. Ba da ba ba bah...they're Lovin' it too! LOL It's pretty strange to me that THIS is the ONLY park in Layton I have found that STILL has swings that are adult sized. They are my Favorite!!! SO between the library, the amphitheater, ALL the Pokestops, the crazy birds, the pretty scenic trails, and the last swings in Layton...this park has got me. Hahaha Once they finish up the renovations they have going on right now, and all the yellow murder crime scene tape is gone, it...
