SCG Hobby, Altoona — Attraction in Logan Township

The employees of this store will lie to you about what they will sell on release date as well as everything they have being above msrp, and even market price in some circumstances. The prices here are higher than anywhere else in the area and the employees are rude when called out for their slimy tactics. -edit I never outright called your employees slimy nor was I rude to him in the store. I was however told on two separate occasions, this week when I was asking to verify my release day plans. That I could purchase a booster box with the promo card; as long as I showed up when there was still availability. I was also told that journey together product would be msrp. These statements from your staff were both outright lies, and your excuse about pricing is also hyperbole. I immediately left your store and went to another local shop to where your 69.99 ETB was being sold for 42.99. I stood in line this morning for half an hour based off information I was given by an employee the day before release to be met with disrespect and to discover that you’re not selling booster boxes because you can make more taking the packs out and selling the promo on the side. The promo which you also have priced higher than another shop in town by 50%. This review would not exist if I wasn’t lied to and if your employees response to me saying that I was told I could purchase that specific product was “I don’t know who would have told you that.” As he laughed at me. Went to scg hobby to sell some cards was low balled on every card which is fine I understand the shop is there to make money, after coming up with a total of the card prices got offered 30% of that for a total of 15-20% total pice if you want to get ripped off completely by all means come sell cards if you want a better deal there's places less than two miles away that will treat you right. Fyi I had 1000ish worth of cards sold them for 600 they offered me 200 store credit or 100 cash 100% will not go back, (referring to the respose given ); your response is you sell for low prices yet are one of the highest prices in the area and for the same quality cards as in your cases you offered me 15% of the value on a $70+ card and yet sell it for online market value so please don't respond and say you sell for low when you're one of the most expensive...

It’s saddens me to hear that YuGiOh is no more at this location.

From my understanding, it was due to occurrences at a different location completely unrelated to the player base or staff at the Altoona location.

I had been looking for a great YGO locals since coming to PA in 2020 and found some but none others compared to this location.

I truly hope that management understands the impact this has made with their local player base as well as those such as myself that used to drive happily 45-50 mins to play once a week or even more.

Sad day for YuGiOh and the players that have continued to grow and promote this location as it’s all gone in the blink of an eye.

Not sure how the store will come back from this as only time will tell how the community will receive their response, which from what I see currently is not...
