Was recently in town for a work conference and stayed at this TownPlace Suites location. I ended up in one of the accessibility rooms on the main floor. It was possibly the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in, but it didn't feel cramped. It was perfect for one person, and probably would have been just fine for a couple. It had a full kitchenette, a nice closet, and a spacious bathroom.
The staff was all very friendly and accommodating. The location was very convenient for my purposes, and it was a nice setting right along the river. Breakfast was unremarkable, with the warm food consisting of bacon and eggs, a rotating option (like egg muffin things), and then maybe a waffle maker. It was not the breakfast experience I've grown used to at 3-star Hilton hotels, and felt more like a 2-star hotel breakfast. A big plus on the breakfast was that they had Gossner milk, which is a local dairy, and I appreciated that touch.
The biggest downside was how thin the walls were. I never heard the people above me, but I had to sleep with earplugs in because the person in the room over was snoring so loud. It was so loud I couldn't cover it up by turning on the air fan and the tv. I could also hear the tv clearly next door when it was on, and it didn't seem like it was overly loud. I was actually supposed to stay one more night, but my new room neighbors had a dog that was barking constantly, and again, it was so loud it may as well have been in the room with me. Rather than toss and turn listening to the dog, I chose to just check out early and make the drive home late at night. If the rooms were quieter it would have easily been a...
Read moreOn average, I spend a little over 100 nights a year away from home, staying at Marriot properties for work and have done so for several years. This is the first time that I have had such a terrible experience. The first night I was here, I was put under a family of four small children, who stomped and made so much noise, that I had to move. This was frustrating because I travel with a full office setup that takes time to setup and tear down and management was very aware that I needed to work because I called and confirmed that it would not be an issue. I do admit that I was frustrated and refused the discount they offered, because I NEEDED TO WORK, and it was not about the money, but about my ability to focus. I didn't mind when they put me on the first floor under the stairs where I could hear everyone going up and down, because it was still much quieter than the family. The second night I was here, they put a very loud family next to me with screaming kids, who I am sure were excited about being in the hotel, but had zero interest in being considerate with their volume. I appreciate that they moved me once, but I don't appreciate the fact that I am still waiting for the manager to call me back and the solution from the front desk is to move me again. I have to be here two more nights. I wish I had never stayed here. Probably a great place to stay if you are a family with kids, but if you are a working person looking for some peace and quiet, stay away. The low room rating is because there is no noise dampening in...
Read moreWhen we checked in to our room, we found that it was handicap accessible, which we did not request, but were not concerned about at the time. However, later that evening I went to take a shower and noticed several things. First, there was little to no lip on the edge of the shower to prevent water from flooding into the rest of the bathroom. Second, the shower curtain did not reach the floor, but left about 3 inches of open space. There were two shower heads, one a handheld that was facing directly out of the shower. In the matter of a very quick 2 minute shower, the bathroom had standing water on the floor outside the shower and around the toilet. I had to use several towels to mop up all of the water to prevent a slipping hazard. I went to the front desk to explain the problem and request a different room. I was told that the hotel was full. The lady at the desk did come to the room and found a way to shut off one of the two shower heads, but basically she said that all she could do was give us more towels. Taking a shower in the morning consisted of stepping on soggy wet towels, being very careful trying to make sure as little water as possible escaped the shower, and spending a good bit of time trying to mop up the floor. Given that there were three adults staying in the hotel room, this made for a very unpleasant experience. We decided to leave a day early, but were made to pay for the additional day anyways, despite the poor accommodations. Will never stay here again, and will look for better...
