From the outside, it's a beautiful landmark and the most recognizable one in the county. The distressed quartzite stone exterior gives an added measure of beauty to this edifice. It still has the gothic revival charm of the iconic Salt Lake Temple but with an approach more fitting of the traditionally small and close-knit agricultural community. Grounds are on a slope but has more landscaping+trees overall compared to the temple in Manti. The only reason for the 4 star review is the interior, which was completely redesigned after being gutted in the 70's. Many of the windows you see on the outside are blacked out. The interior is quite lackluster compared to other temples of the faith and feels more like a meetinghouse of the same era. Even the Church president at the time expressed regret over the decision to destroy the historic temple interior. It lead to a major shift in how the church handles the preservation of its historic buildings. One thing that I personally hope for if an extensive renovation like similar to what the Salt Lake temple is undergoing. I mean, the groom asked me to be his best man, should that not show I'm fairly trustworthy? But no. I had some facial hair and so to the...
Read moreA beautiful place to visit! For those passing through-- it's grounds are usually only open Tuesday-Saturday. During the spring and summer they have wonderful flowers/gardens to walk through. During the winter it's still a great place to get a view of the whole valley. It's a place of worship for members of the LDS faith, so unless you're a member don't plan on being able to go inside the building itself (besides the waiting area). All are invited to the grounds though and I think it's definitely worth a visit (especially in the Spring...
