Barbara's Bookstore — Attraction in Lombard

Some of the worst customer service I’ve ever seen. I went there a couple days ago to purchase a couple books. While I was checking out, there were four employees behind the registers just conversing amongst themselves. My card wasn’t reading and they offered zero assistance and just continued with their side conversation. I literally had to figure it out myself.

The topic of their conversation was about video games/anime and their demeanor was totally unprofessional. I don’t need someone to tend to my every need, but for FOUR employees to continue their side conversation while I was checking out, that’s unacceptable.

There were multiple customers inside the store that were being ignored too. Had I not needed these books, I would have walked out. This store is BEAUTIFUL and the selection is great, but the employees are lackluster and don’t have initiative. So...

Barbara’s Bookstore at the Yorktown Mall is one of my favorite bookstores to visit. Not only are the booksellers knowledgeable about their stock, but I can rely on recommendations from them when I am in need for any kind of genre. Georgette is reliable to offer suggestions as well as ordering all and any books that I need for myself, my classroom, and family members. She and her staff of booksellers have their fingers imbedded in what’s hot and upcoming. Every time I come into the store, I see new tables based on trends and themes with a variety of genres and authors to showcase books as well as other bookish items to choose from.

I cannot say enough about this bookstore. The service in Barbara's bookstore was outstanding. Brianna, one of the people helping me, went out of her way to find the book I was looking for. With technology being what it is not everyone is reading books. What a great addition to Yorktown mall. Brianna was very knowledgeable about many different books and couldn't be more friendly. They allow dogs to visit with you which I think is great. I highly recommend you stop in this bookstore when looking for a book or needing a gift...
