FINAL EDIT...READ THIS! This is a hard-won 4-star review and would be a 5+ had the journey to get here not been so difficult. But...consider this a gold-guilded and polished 4-star review with accolades. After many (too many) visits to the Lone Tree Car Toys, the new manager, Mike, and the technician, Brian, were finally able to fix the long laundry list of issues created when I first took my car in.
All things considered, the technical issues may have been a confluence of hardware and software issues coming together to make the perfect storm, which if true is not the fault of the guys working at the store. The initial response from the previous manager and Car Toys Corporate was a shrug. And dudes...I was not happy.
After a fairly heated exchange (mostly on my end), Mike took the ball for team Car Toys and ran with it. There was another 3-4 visits, (for a total of 7-8 visits) and lots of time on my end coordinating drop offs and pick-ups mid week, but eventually diligence paid off. After removing the 3rd party alarm, replacing the Maestro unit, and then the head unit, everything seems to be working. The A/C knob stopped working right after the first visit but thankfully is back to new. I love my car again!
Seriously, had it not been for the initial (and expected) corporate reaction and the sheer number of visits, this would be a 5-star. Certainly Mike and Brian deserve 6-stars for their commitment to solving the problem. Thanks for seeing this through to the end guys!
EDIT: Store is under new management and they are taking steps to resolve the numerous issues on the vehicle. Will update further as project moves forward. Bumping from 1 (zero) star to 3 star for Mike and Brian's efforts. Still having issues but they seem committed to resolving. Nothing perfect in this world...just want some effort and they're trying, so that's good. Hoping this all gets resolved and happy to further edit.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS STORE!!!! I can not stress enough, the incompetence at the Lone Tree story is astounding! I spent over $8000 on "toys" to my new car and the only thing that works is the subwoofer. I have taken my car back 4 times now, and each time the problems get worse. Now that they've dragged out the repairs, they say it's past the 30-day window and won't honor the return policy. So I'm stuck with $8k of crap equipment that doesn't work. This isn't even an exhaustive list of the missteps, manipulations and flat out lies.
• Head unit randomly turns itself on and off. • Head unit disconnects and shorts out near hospitals • Head unit does not dim at night, causing safety issue. • The radar detector...same. Randomly shuts on and off. • The car alarm I had them install...randomly sets itself off, usually early in the morning, waking neighbors up. I have resigned to disconnecting the battery and no longer driving my car. • Key fob no longer works. The only way to unlock car is by touching the handle. That or just leave unlocked. • Key fob no longer opens trunk. • At times the heads lights refuse to turn off, no matter the position of the switch. • The USB plug-in's no longer connect.
On the 3rd visit I was told by the store manager that it wouldn't be a problem to bring it back and remove all the components, refund me my money and make me whole. On 4th visit (3rd visit fix didn't work) I am told by the new manager (now the 3rd manager at the store...tells you how well they're doing) that nothing is refundable. Not one cent.
Rather, the "fix" would be to swap out to different equipment, at my cost, that doesn't "really fit in the vehicle right." Are you kidding me??? This is the fix, is to make it even worse??? If these were my answers in my professional I'd be toast!
I told the (now 3rd) manager this was unacceptable. He told me I'd have to hunt down the 2nd store manager (no longer there) and take it up with him and that he was unable to offer any other solution. Then he hung up on me.
CAR TOYS IS POSSIBLY THE WORST VENDOR I'VE EVER DEALT WITH!!! DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT DO BUSINESS...
Read moreExtremely dissatisfied & taken back by the lack of empathy, service, and money grab of this location. My single widowed mom visited this store 3/4/2024 and purchased a digital video recording rear view mirror. Install happen on 3/11/2024 ( 7 day difference ). Talked into a purchase where she didn't receive a walk through of the product, and to be frank taken advantage of. selling the extended warranty as well. Since that install her vehicle battery has been dead and I personally have had to jump start the vehicle 6-7 times. She has been abandoned on the side of the road so many times, she used her 6 AAA complimentary tows since the install because of this parasitic drain. It has had the battery replaced on our dime, and the alternator on our dime totaling over $500 total. We've then had to replace the alternator again under their warranty ( they stood by their word & cared about their customers), and it's parasitic drain has killed the battery twice to where it has failed the voltage tests confirmed by Kuni Lexus, Brakes plus, and AAA (multiple times). When my mom visited the store to communicate her they're simply communicating all technical aspects to try and justify to themselves their perfect and nothing is wrong. Not 1 apology to her for all these issues, not 1 sign of empathy, strictly fear selling her on how she wont get all her money back, they can't refund labor, trying to use her single income, and living on a budget as a pillar of strength to scare her off. They then laughed off the part that she purchased it on 3/4/2024 , but install didn't happen until 3/11/2024, and she's there on the 30th day of their warranty. BUT of course, the warranty starts when you purchase it, not from the install date. We put up with many many jumps at 6 am, 6 service calls from AAA, several 3rd party opinions including Brakes Plus, Kuni Lexus, and AAA. Including a exteNded warranty she spent $1,100. Refund today is only $265-ish. Out over $835, $265 alternator, $200 battery, over $1,300 dollars, several hours on the side of the road, and not 1 apology, empathy. Lastly i'm unsure on why they sell extended warranties that cover labor when they would never make a mistake? They reaked of arrogance and sarcasm, and provided zero customer service to a single widowed lady. I could care less about the loss of the money. They fact that a single widowed lady on fixed income went in, never had an issue with her vehicle electronically until this install, and then 2 alternators, 3 batteries, 6 jump starts, 3 service visits, and they believe it's a coincidence. I'll be reaching out to executive management to communicate this matter, and looking for any type of follow up from executive...
Read moreIsaac and Jordan were phenomenal at helping me! They're very personable and looking to do a good job. The store manager was awesome! I never felt rushed and making a decision and I never felt pressured into buying something . They gave me options with pros and cons for my needs! Definitely will be returning for any of my car needs when it comes to toys! I am a extremely satisfied customer. My new Subs sound bomb!
BUYER BEWARE .... UPDATE
Well unfortunately my second experience will make me not return for a third visit. I had my sub transferred over to a new car I just bought a few days ago. After all is said and done with a new wiring kit and the transfer over it was a $500 install. And that was just wires being taped off in the first vehicle. When the vehicle was presented to me to leave we noticed that it wasn't nearly as loud as it was in my previous vehicle. Mind you my first go-around installing the sub the amp and the wires was close to $2,000. My husband asked for them to check the settings to make sure something wasn't wrong. Some things had to be reset because they weren't working properly. When we got home that day we noticed that it still didn't have quite as much punch as it did before in my previous vehicle. We also noticed that there was still a screw that was not put back into place after the second inspection and one of the employs tools was left in the back of my car. I live all the way in Arvada so making the drive back was definitely a huge inconvenience. Not to mention where does the screw fit into place. I went to go put in another set of subs I have back into the vehicle that this sub was removed from and noticed that the fuse was cut from the battery.I believe that I paid for a full wiring kit for the new vehicle so I didn't have anything removed from the old vehicle. I could be wrong but I couldn't check my receipt because I never received one. A lot of inconveniences for the amount of money that I've spent on one sub amp setup. I feel very discouraged to have to change my review because I had such a phenomenal experience which was why I thought I was a return customer. However due to the many inconveniences and lack of concern for a thorough complete job I guess I will not be returning and this particular company does not care about return business. So I will take my $2,500 as a lesson that you can't trust people to do their job thoroughly and completely with integrity and professionalism. Nothing to do with the installer... But high pressure sales! And attitudes get thrown when you reject any sales pitch they have. You're treated like scum and like they don't have time for you. Even if you are still spending a lot of...
